""I don't want to take ANY more questions on Watergate!""
Frost/Nixon is the epic true story that shocked the world. On June 17th 1972 5 men were arrested for breaking and entering into the Democratic National Committee at the HQ Watergate office complex in Washington D.C. The men that were arrested were close advisors for President Nixon, so he had resingnation for president on August 9th 1974. So Gerald Ford took the office and told everybody to lay off Nixon and drop all charges. British-Ausrailian Tv host, David Frost saw his resignation and though "I want to interview this guy!" So on May 19th 1977 David Frost (played by Michael Sheen) interviewed 1 out of a series of interviews, Richard Nixon (Frank Langella.)
But before the interviews he created a team and studied, James Reston Jr. (Sam Rockwell) Matthew Macfayden (John Birt) Oliver Platt (Bob Zelnick). Well they study but barley any for frost untill after one of the interviews. He also has a... girlfriend, Caroline Cushing (Rebecca Hall) They are a so-called ace team of investagators. They must listen to every press confrence and every thing else he has ever said or been convicted of. So it's yea hard work. So when they interview him they spilt each subject up and they can ONLY say it 25% of the tie in an interview. Of course, Nixon had thought the first question for the first interview would be "So why didn't you burn the tapes?" From watergate, it was taped. The interviews were pretty much a war, Nixon's side was to make people believe him more and think of him as a better person, Frost's side was to make him a shame to the U.S.A. and have a trial on Nixon. That was the main idea, well it was James Reston Jr's. plan.
This movie is smart and you know that because it's a Ron Howard film, pretty much all of his movies are just BRILLIANT. "Apollo 13" "The Queen" "A beautiful mind" and much much more. He is coming out with another film, "Angels and Demons" which looks EPIC.
This movie is well a well done debate and fight. No violence but political stuff and talk, and history. Most movies that says "based on a true story" are good movies that are meant to be watched and are good. Most the times. This is one to watch for and well i can honestly say that I liked this more than "Slumdog Millionaire" but i loved "The Curious Case of Benjiman Button" i think that it should've won the award, not "Slumdog Millionaire" it was great but "Benjiman Button" was better in my opinion.
