"It's a cute story with plenty of laughs. Ellen Page is wonderful in the title role."
Juno MacGuff (Ellen Page) is an unconventional teenager with a lot of spunk and charisma. When she discovers she is pregnant (it only takes one time) she decides to adopt the baby out to a nice yuppie couple (Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner) who have not been able to have a baby of their own.
After she has all the details worked out in her mind, she finally tells her parents (Allison Janney and J.K. Simmons) about her predicament. When she sits them down, they are worried that she has been "expelled or into hard drugs," and when they learn she is pregnant they take it much easier than she imagined.
During her pregnancy, Juno finds herself in several situations that end up maturing her and she comes into her own self. She is an unusual girl with a quirky nature, but she is very endearing and adorable.
"She goes on a long, tricky road," says Ellen Page. "She has this idea of what it is to be an adult and desire to be that way as I think you are in adolescence - you're stuck between two worlds. And she comes out on the other end all right."
Janney explains about the film, "It's not trying to be political at all. You just have a story about something that happens to a girl in her life and what she decides to do."
The film is divided into the four seasons and follows Juno's pregnancy through the different trimesters, ending with the beautiful sunlight and flowers of summer. It's a cute story with plenty of laughs as Juno's unconventional outlook on life takes her through several unexpected situations. Ellen Page is wonderful in the title role. This is a fun film filled with heart - and it's very enjoyable.
