'Resident Evil 6' Delayed by Milla Jovovich's Pregnancy

Actress Milla Jovovich and her husband, director Paul W.S. Anderson, have decided to delay 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' until after she gives birth.

Milla Jovovich took to her official Facebook page today, announcing that production on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter has been delayed, after the actress and her husband, franchise director Paul W.S. Anderson, discovered that they are expecting their second child. Here's the actress' full statement below, where she reveals that production has been pushed to the summer of 2015.

"Happy Monday everyone!

This was originally going to be a post to tell you how excited I am about flying to Cape Town, South Africa to begin working on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.

But... My husband Paul and I just discovered that we are expecting another baby!!!

So after a lot of discussion, we thought it would be in everyone's best interest to wait till the baby is born before we set out to try and tackle an RE movie. Between the stunt work and what will become my ever-expanding belly, we didn't think pregnancy and zombie killing are the best combo! Lol! I imagine the only thing I'll be killing in the near future is an endless supply of cupcakes. Yikes...

In all seriousness though, we want to make the best movie possible and that would be extremely difficult, to say the least, in my present condition.

I would like to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has been working so hard on the movie in South Africa already and we are so looking forward to working with you all next summer. And when we arrive, it will hopefully be with the newest member of our little family! YAY!

Before I go, i want to also send one more HUGE thank you out to all my amazing fans who have been so patient waiting for the next installment of the RE franchise! YOU ROCK!

Thanks so much for understanding everyone! All the best! -m"

We reported in June that Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is the working title of this final franchise sequel. Director Paul W.S. Anderson also revealed that he was halfway done with his first draft of the screenplay, but he wasn't sure when production would start. It seems that pre-production is already under way, with crews already working in South Africa on the sequel.

We'll keep you posted with more updates on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter as soon as more information is available about the continuation of the Resident Evil franchise.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter comes to theaters in 2015 and stars Milla Jovovich. The film is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson.

@EmmyttWolfe Oh, I see. I hope that they eventually make Resident Evil 6, but then not make anymore then that and not give this movie a cliffhanger ending.

@EmmyttWolfe The most that they will do is delay it because of her Pregnancy. They won't cancel it.

Dear God, he's having kids. Nooo
Kidding aside, this maybe his last film but it won't stop the Studio for pumping out more.

What happened to the CGI films? I thought they were way better than Paul's.

I've noticed that Final Fantasy elements are within these films. Just take a look at RE and his 3 Musketeers is riddled with FF images.

I'm certainly not shedding a tear for this bit of good news. Hopefully Paul W.S. Anderson's take on the Resident Evil games will finally at long last die, and we can get a reboot a few years down the line, and maybe an actually good Resident Evil game, but I won't get my hopes up.
