Peter Jackson's 'West of Memphis' Trailer

The acclaimed director produced this documentary about the West Memphis Three alongside partner Fran Walsh.

Not to be confused with Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory, West of Memphis is a new documentary about the recently freed West Memphis Three from producers Peter Jackson and his partner Fran Walsh. The duo quietly funded an in-depth investigation into the case against Jason Baldwin, Damien Wayne Echols, and Jessie Miskelly, the trio wrongfully accused of killing three 8 year old boys back in 1994, which saw them freed in late 2010. West of Memphis will premiere at this year's Sundance Film Festival. You can take your first look at the trailer below.

I can't find a single location anywhere on the web to tell us when this film will be in theaters and how it will be distributed (independent film houses or regular multiplex theaters). Could someone publish a date that it will be released?

All I know is, I don't care how stupid I might be, or how bad I was getting water boarded or beaten up by detectives or whatever the hell the case. If my life's on the line, and I'm innocent, I scream not guilty until the dropping of the guillotine. That's all I'll say.

On a separate note, I wish MW would stop with the "Peter Jackson's..." It's not Peter Jackson's the same way District 9 isn't Peter Jackson's. "Peter Jackson Presents" is perhaps more appropriate. I realize he supposedly helped fund an "investigation" into the case or whatever (and even that I think is somewhat overstated), but it's not his film.

Not that this couldn't be good, but aren't there enough doc*mentaries devoted to this case? I would like to see a scripted drama cover this story.

Looks fantastic! I'm really looking forward to seeing this. Its an absolute travesty and a mindblowing injustice what happened to these three people. The court that prosecuted them was a complete disgrace. I hope that these three innocent men will soon be fully exonarated of this crime that they had nothing to do with, and that the real killer(s) will be brought to justice. Stuff like this should not happen. Period. But unfortunately it does.. way too often.
