  • With the recent departure of legend, revolutionist, god, titan, what ever you hailed the man who changed the face of computer technology as we know it, Steve Jobs resume is a dazzling diamond of achievement of an icon that everyone should look up to.

Oscar-winning writer Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network) revealed that he was good friends with the recently departed Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. And during one of their last conversations, Jobs offered him the chance to write a Pixar movie.

"The truth is I don't know how to tell those stories," Sorkin told Jobs. "I have a young kid who loves Pixar movies and she'll turn cartwheels if I tell her I'm writing one and I don't want to disappoint her by writing the only bad movie in the history of Pixar."

Jobs responded by inviting the screenwriter to take a tour of the Pixar facility. Sorkin never took that tour, but is still thinking about the opportunity Jobs offered him.

  • Will it be an animated movie? I know it's ideal for Pixar, but will it be? While I still think it's too early for a biopic, live action or not, how will Aaron tackle it? Oscar winner or not, biopics aren't always accurate.....well nit biopics per say, but true stories in general

  • I know it s just such an interesting topic... I'd like to see Sorkin do a motion capture live action CGI biopic of Jobs, but it may be too budget costly but it would be amazing

I'm definately intrigued to see how Sorkin would tackle this same as you are @bawnian-dexeus

  • And it depends on how much Jobs told Sorkin w/e information he left the conversation with. Will we see a more personal Steve Jobs that no one has ever seen before except for his partners and family? Or will it be the same story line that TSN took? What would the title be? A pun, a media term, the name of the brand, his name, a greek word or term, the logo of the company, or just the tribute art ceding from the Chinese artist?

  • @bawnian-dexeus hmmmm maybe the same story arc that TSN dereived from but we see him in college, then drops out and maybe ending with his inevitable fall from grace from Apple to create Pixar with Lassater, but 3D and animated.

Now that sounds like gold to me and simply just call it 'APPLE'

  • If they travel in his short time in college, I want to see them create his experience taking calligraphy

  • @bawnian-dexeus any film based on Jobs must include his college years especially his experience during his calligraphy course, because it was his experience in taking that course that inspired him to create the first Macintosh. In which its preliminary goal was to be able to be a computer design for writing aspects within different aspects and styles of calligraphy.

So that would be Act 1 in technical story term and its a must have for Jobs biopic

  • I glanced at this in my "mentions" section and I though it said Aaron Eckhart. :P

Well I never saw The Social Network, but a movie doesn't get a 100% rating for no reason. I guess I'll have to wait and see for this.
Wontons and Cloverfield. What else is new?

  • Sorkin shouldn't write a movie FOR Pixar, he should write a movie ABOUT the founding of Pixar.

  • @shuabert I think that is absolutly brilliant!

But whatever the case i get the feeling that writing a pixar movie is not as simple as a typical screenplay. I am no expert but there are so many nuances in these pixar films.

  • @jayaottley -- Hm, that's very interesting, and I see why he is very concerned with taking the offer-he has a lot of weight on his shoulders on this project, if he chooses to do it, of course.
