While he's famously known for the revolutionary sitcom of the late 80s/early 90s, #Roseanne, John Goodman continues to surprise me even in 2010.

From his turns in films like The Big Lebowski, and even voicing animated characters in Monsters Inc., every character the guy touches becomes iconic.

Still, to this day, the guy is crushing in David Simon's new HBO show, #Treme, and again, I find myself re-infatuated with the presence John Goodman brings to the screen.

What is your favorite John Goodman character? And why?

  • THE WEST WING is my all time favorite TV series. Goodman did a four episode arc in which he played Speaker of the House Glenallen Walken, who takes control of the Presidency due to the fact that the President's daughter has been kidnapped. He was a republican while Martin Sheen's character, President Bartlet was a democrat. It was a great storyline and Goodman did a superb job.

  • Walter Sobchak. Hands down. A Polish Catholic Jew with a serious anger problem that can't stop relating everything to Nam...it just doesn't get any better than that. He did wonders with that role. The thought of Walters face makes me chuckle to this day.

Whoa? He's in The West Wing? The more and more I hear about that show the more I HAVE TO get into it! Nice tip!

  • Like I said THE WEST WING is my top series of all time. Great story lines with great characters and of course, great actors. Watch it from the beginning, in sequence and I don't know how you'd be disappointed.

  • I would like to see John Goodman and Roseanne get together in a movie. They had good chemistry on Roseanne.

  • My favorite Goodman character is a toss up of either Sully in Monsters, Inc. or Big Dan Teague in O Brother, Where Art Thou.

  • I saw him in Babe and that film with Melanie Griffith. Is he also the one in Evan Almighty?

Btw, during the first films of Harry Potter, I thought he was the one playing Hagrid. I even said 'Oh my. He's huge. They made him look a lot bigger.' Then it turns out it's a whole different actor who played the giant lovable Hagrid. ;P
