‘Pacific Rim’ ’Kaiju Attack’ Video Reveals a First Look at Giant Monster!

San Francisco is under attack in this breaking news tease from director Guillermo del Toro’s thriller.

We know that the Pacific Rim viral video and images from earlier today just weren't enough to satiate your appetite for monster mayhem. Thankfully, yet another viral video has been posted that is designed as a news report featuring a kaiju attack on the San Francisco bay area. The city is also highlighted on the PanPacificDefense.com website. We only get brief glimpses of the kaiju in this fictional report, but we do see all of the chaos it left in its wake. The video is dated August 11, 2013, which is odd since the movie comes out on July 12, 2013. At any rate, take a look at these monsters running roughshod in the Bay Area.

Pacific Rim was released July 12th, 2013 and stars Charlie Hunnam, Diego Klattenhoff, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky. The film is directed by Guillermo del Toro.

And yeah, folks, this ISN'T going to be a Cloverfield knockoff. It's not a found-footage film, like others have said. This is merely clever viral marketing.

I get the 'found footage' thing, but what could possibly be creating so much image distortions with such advanced cameras nowadays. I don't get it. It takes away from fully enjoying the film. The concept looks good though. A one-time watch for me

I'm not really sure you can call this a Cloverfield rip off. From what I understand this was simply done for marketing purposes (a lot of movie have done this) and the movie itself will not be a 'found footage' type of movie like Cloverfield. Even though it barely showed anything, I think it looks pretty awesome so far.

My parents are fairly aged, @bawnian-dexeus. They're up to date with technology, but they're no high school/college aged student. Besides, they have a few gullible moments, especially my mom. That plus my exceptional acting skills (obviously) and the news footage in the first half or so of the video, and it wasn't too hard to hook them. Besides, I had to come to their house for some important reason or another, and this video provided me with that. :P

@narrator Agreed on the marketing aspect, but I'm surprised they fell for it.

I love well done viral marketing, and I feel this was pretty well done. I showed this to my parents over at their house just an hour ago, and they bought my lie of it being "Breaking News". They were devastated that San Fransisco, where we have lots of family, was hit. That is, until they saw the aliens. Their faces - priceless.
