Warner Bros. has handed out a June 17, 2016 release date for The Nice Guys starring Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling.

The crime thriller will be going up against a pair of animated sequels, Pixar's Finding Dory and DreamWorks Animation's How to Train Your Dragon 3.

We first reported on the project back in June, when Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling were being sought to star as private detective Holland March and muscle-for-hire Jackson Healy, who join forces to find a missing porn star in 1970s Los Angeles. Their investigation uncovers a vast conspiracy. The actors have since been confirmed to star in the noir thriller, after Warner Bros. picked up the project last month.

Shane Black (Iron Man 3) is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Anthony Bagarozzi, with Joel Silver producing through his Silver Pictures. Wayside Entertainent's Ken Kao is executive producing alongside Hal Sadoff, and Michael Malon. Production is scheduled to begin this fall.
