Kim Basinger has signed on to reunite with her L.A. Confidential co-star Russell Crowe in another crime noir thriller, The Nice Guys.

The story centers on a private detective (Ryan Gosling) who teams up with an ex-boxer turned hired muscle (Russell Crowe) to find a young girl who has gone missing in 1970s Los Angeles, and to solve the murder of a porn star, as they discover the two cases may be related. Kim Basinger is playing the chief justice who has mysterious interests at play. We reported yesterday that Beau Knapp and Keith David are playing the villains, with White Collar and Magic Mike star Matthew Bomer also joining the cast in an unspecified role.

Shane Black (Iron Man 3) is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Anthony Bagarozzi. Joel Silver and Ken Kao are producing, with Hal Sadoff and Michael Malone serving as executive producers. It isn't known when shooting may begin, but Warner Bros. has already issued a June 17, 2016 release date.

Kim Basinger most recently starred in Grudge Match and Third Person.
