Risky Business Blog is reporting that Viacom held a conference call today where the company touted that future projects such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Zoolander 2, Untitled G.I. Joe Sequel and Untitled Jack Ryan Project are in active development.

We reported back in May that Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes was taking over production on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And we reported in August that Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway were writing the new movie. Plot details weren't released, but this new movie will be a live-action project.

The news confirms a report from last week regarding Zoolander 2, which was said to start shooting sometime next year. Iron Man 2 screenwriter Justin Theroux will write and direct the sequel, with Ben Stiller reprising his role as Derek Zoolander.

The Untitled G.I. Joe Sequel, which is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and the Untitled Jack Ryan Project were also mentioned in the conference call, along with Star Trek 2, which will start shooting in January for a June 29, 2012 release date.

No production details or release dates were mentioned for the other projects, although it was said Viacom plans to release all of these projects after September 2011.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comes to theaters June 6th, 2014 and stars Megan Fox, Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, Noel Fisher, Will Arnett, Danny Woodburn, William Fichtner. The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

Zoolander 2 is in development and stars Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell. The film is directed by Justin Theroux.

G.I. Joe Retaliation was released March 28th, 2013 and stars Dwayne Johnson, Jonathan Pryce, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, Ray Stevenson, D.J. Cotrona, Adrianne Palicki, Channing Tatum. The film is directed by Jon M. Chu.

Jack Ryan comes to theaters December 25th, 2013 and stars Keira Knightley, Chris Pine, Kevin Costner, Kenneth Branagh, Colm Feore, Lee Asquith-Coe, Nonso Anozie, Gemma Chan. The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh.

@reelmein I know, right? Why doesn't Hollywood come up with new ideas, rather than remakes and sequels?

There's a diff between a good movie and a fun movie. They are both good, but only 1 of them will go down in history. Sometimes neither film wins an oscar. but they are both good in their own special ways. One you have to go along with it by opening up your mind to, The other Brings you right into the film. There's no such thing as a "worst" movie, It just depends on you, what you like, what you will accept from it and what the outcome of it will bring.

@Cartman, G.I. Joe may have been fun, but it really had the potential to be good, even great, and it passed it right up. I have no problem with good ol' fashion popcorn flicks. It's films that have a great idea going for it, who simply settle for "fun" that bother me.

@moviegeek - you call SS a painfully corny director? I would say The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, Van Helsing are all a very good family entertainer and good movies. GI JOE for that matter is good to me, every movie has haters!! To me SS is a great director and GI JOE was a nice fun entertainer!

@REAL, vantastic! Lol. That was an awesome scene in the film, and would have been one of my favorites had it not been that Eve was about to be raped just a few minutes prior. No harm done to her of rouse, but I get pissed whenever the thought of someone doing crap like that enters... especially to my lady in red (Portman). *Insert omni-potent growl*

Zoolander: One of the worst comedies ever.
TMNT: Terrible live action pictures but made for a decent animated flick.
Jack Ryan: Been there, done that. Sum of All Fears was the end of that franchise.
G.I. Joe: One of the worst movies of last year from one of the most painfully corny directors. (aside from the original Mummy)

"people should not be afraid of their government. Governments should be afraid of their people" I took those words to heart. It's too bad Moore has such a hatred of Hollywood making movie versions of his work.

V: Voila! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.
[carves V into poster on wall]
V: The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.
    [giggles]
V: Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it's my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V.
Evey Hammond: Are you like a crazy person?

    Classic lol

has anyone determined why exactly they are making a sequel to Zoolander? I didn't think the first one was that great to begin with, and I'm a big fan of Ben Stiller.... Oh and to respond to everything else, V for Vendetta was frickin incredible. "I am simply remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is"

  24. the Narrator

Lol. My favorite scene? I'd say it's a tie between the crescendo of the film (everyone in masks watching Big Ben blow up), the "God is in the rain scene", and the tower break in. But who cares; the whole film kicked ass!

    @Skywise, true.
@REAL, I know right?! One of my favorite comic based films. All around fantastic, not to mention the great performances by Portman and Weaving. V and Rorschach are some of the best anti-heros to ever grace the screen. In fact, I might watch it right now. :P

  28. the Narrator

@Dave, I was surprised the two were done by the same man as well. However the scripts apparently made all the difference. Bummer because the film could of had a lot going for it. Good news is @Dave, and @Cripple - The script for this was written by the Iron Man writers, so I am sure McTeigue can utilize their script well enough.

V also had wonderful source material to play with.

  30. Cripple

I think McTeigue would be a fantastic choice for TMNT. V for Vendetta was amazing, and Ninja Assassin was great too, you just have to watch it knowing that it's supposed to be crazy and over-the-top.
