Zombieland Sequel is in the works
"Everyone had fun watching (the first) Zombieland; making it a more visceral experience can only make it better," said the film's producer Gavin Polone. "I don't think you want to see 'Ordinary People' in 3-D. But Zombieland is clearly one movie that will benefit from (the technique)."
Furthermore, most people watch movies on their TVs. Polone noted that the first 3D TVs are set to hit the market in the spring, which will make 3D films even more desirable.
Sony has closed deals with Polone and director Ruben Fleischer to return for a sequel to the original, which cost $24 million and has earned $85.2 million worldwide to date (Zombieland has only opened in a few territories overseas). The Culver City studio is currently in talks with stars Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg to reprise their roles as a pair of post-apocalyptic survivors. Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are working on the sequel's screenplay.
Paramount and MTV Films are even further along with Jackass 3, with filming scheduled to begin Jan. 25. The studio has carved out a spot on its 2010 slate for the latest film, which will star Johnny Knoxville. The low-brow franchise has been something of a cash cow for the studio with the first two films -- which together cost $16.5 million -- raking in a combined $164.1 million worldwide.
Though Paramount confirmed the new Jackass 3 will be shot in 3D, Dickhouse Prods. declined comment about the technology the film will employ. Insiders say Dickhouse's Jeff Tremaine, who will direct Jackass 3, is conducting camera tests this week to ensure that the footage will look good.
Zombieland was released October 2nd, 2009 and stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, Amber Heard, Bill Murray, Derek Graf, Jacob G. Akins. The film is directed by Ruben Fleischer.
Jackass 3D was released October 15th, 2010 and stars Seann William Scott, Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Steve-O, Spike Jonze, Chris Pontius, Jason Acuña, Ryan Dunn. The film is directed by Jeff Tremaine.

Zombieland instantly had a sequel, and it is a stand alone great zombie movie, and instant classic, the only thing they should change is Micheal Cera being in the movie, he plays that character the best, I hate to say it but I wish this was a series, like it originally was, so we can as much of the zombieland world as possible
Jackass 4, which it is, lost its gimmick along time ago in the last decade, bringing it into this decade is not a good idea, in 3D is even worse,
3D was good when it first became popular in the 50's, by the way My Bloody Valentine started the 3D comeback, Avatar just made it popular, its a niche and should stay a niche for bad movies needing something to draw people in, they want to do something new, make a DAMN virtual reality movie, image watching a horror movie in that sh*t, then I go see every movie just to experience it, but that sh*ts not out yet, so we're stuck with 19 century (1890) technology as new sh*t.

I AM FRATSON
the rules part was halarious. bill murrays cameo part was great. i loved the movie. i think they should def do a sequel, as long as they stay true to the first. i agree newkill. avatar will make or break the future of 3D films for live action movies. the only time i can honestly say ive enjoyed 3d movies are for movies like up and cloudy, the animated pixars.

I'll take my chances with Jackass. Zombieland is a horror/comedy and i've never seen a sequel done well on that type of genre. It was lucky to work the first time.

I'd rather see Zombieland than Jackass. Zombieland has a lot of potential for future sequels if done right, it was pretty funny, as long as they keep the same type of humor and the whole "rules" thing in the film, it will be okay.

If Avatar becomes a flop, then I seriously doubt 3D will be around long.

F*CK 3D! What is the big deal!? They act like it will make or break this film (Zombieland). If they keep the same cast and make it just as good as the first one no one will care if it's in 3D or not.

Jackass 3d? This I gotta see! As for Zombieland, as long as the story was great as the first, it shouldn't be a problem....
I agree ed_wood....bring em'!

I'm interested in both sequels, I could care less about the 3D part though.

oooh....don't think a zombieland sequel should happen, especially not in that half-ass gimmicky 3D. The first one was hilarious and extremely well done, and it closed it off nicely. Why and how could you make a second?
