While making the press rounds for Star Trek Into Darkness, actress Zoe Saldana confirmed that Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 will be shot back to back in 2014.

"I think that they're doing a part two and a part three and they're probably going to shoot it at the same time. Because if we just do two and then wait, I'll probably be 45 or 50 by the time we get to part three. It takes a long time, it's a very hard process."

Back in November, director James Cameron revealed that production would begin in late 2013, although now it seems that production schedule has moved up slightly.

It was initially believed that Avatar 2 will hit theaters in late 2014, with Avatar 3 arriving in late 2015. However, James Cameron also said in March that there is no release date set for either of the sequels yet, and that he is still writing the screenplays for both movies.

Avatar 2 comes to theaters November 2016 and stars Stephen Lang, Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington. The film is directed by James Cameron.

Avatar 3 comes to theaters November 2017 and stars Stephen Lang, Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington. The film is directed by James Cameron.

If Avatar 2 and avatar 3 are going to be filming in back to back in 2014, then i don't see how Avatar 2 will be coming out in 2014 and how Avatar 3 will be coming out in 2015. It may be a few years later then those years, that they will be released to theaters.
