How is this more commercial than The Hurtlocker? Seriously? I mean seriously? You see what? less than 90 seconds of scenes spliced together and that leads you to that conclusion.

I mean she's a good film maker, why not let her handle this kind of material? would you rather Michael Bay make it? not that I'm hating on Bay cause I know I'm one of the few who actually enjoys his work.

@moviegeek I'm not surprised she's gone more commercial. I'm sure Hurt Locker influenced that decision a bit, after getting showered with awards. She prob felt it was safer to do so now.

Not impressed. Looks too commercial from what I expect from Bigelow.

@rufio You make a good point, although no film on Earth is going to get him back into office

    @SherlockHolmes2009 i agree.
and @basquat took the words right out of my mouth (except my fear is not that it is military propoganda, but political with ploys to push one political party over another - in this case probably the heroism of President Obama for making the call to go in). the only reassuring thought i have about this is that it releases after the election. so we'll see.
looks decent though. plus great casting with chastain and kyle chandler.

Considering how quick they were to make this film, how do we actually know any of this is true, except the end of course.
The rest might just be military propaganda

@skywise Agreed. Black Hawk Down to this day is my favorite movie of all time. And part of what I loved of it was the accuracy.

I found the Hurtlocker's scenes were pretty realistic when they were outside the wire. Someone of the story elements were a little silly but the EOD scenes were fantastic.

I have a hard time watching military movies because I tend to see what the film makers got wrong as apposed to enjoying the film.

I do not know how Seal Team Six opperates so hopefully I can enjoy the movie for what it is.

@youngrizo Black Hawk Down is one of the ost accurate movies I have ever seen when it comes to actual combat and especially the medical aspect. In fact they use several scenes in that film when training CLS's. The wounding and eventual death of CPL Jamie Smith is especially important. That one incedent changed the way the Army treates certain wounds in a battlefield scenerio.

Also, I'm glad they didn't show too much, too many movies nowadays show way too much.

Hurt Locker wasn't necessarily shunned. Movies like this just don't get the respect they deserve like they used to. The tense dramatic thrillers of the 90s and such like The Pelican Brief, The Firm, The Hunt for Red October and anything Jack Ryan related used to be the it movies, then spectacle took over and those movies stopped getting the acclaim they deserved.

So this will probably do well but not amazingly so. It's a double edged sword, like Captain America or Act of Valor. The American public will love it, but the rest of the world will be skeptical.

I expect it will be a great film, I love movies like this and while we know how it ends there's a lot of things that were never made truly public, things that might have appeared in the news that many glossed over and those I'm sure will make for something gripping. Look at Black Hawk Down for instance, great movie, not entirely accurate to a tee, but it did the story of what happened in Somalia, justice.

@dan1 Yeah. Also, I'm not at all convinced with the whole "The story you think you knew" and "This is what really happened". All I need to know is that the man is dead and sleeping with the fishes

@bawnian-dexeus Yeah, but it hardly shows anything. I'm curious how people will respond to this project. Or if it'll be like Hurt Locker, where everybody shuns it, then it wins some awards, and people start paying attention. We'll see.
