Y: The Last Man Becomes a Priority Project at New Line Cinema

Y: The Last Man moves forward at New Line Cinema
Back in March, we reported that writers Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia came on board to write Y: The Last Man for New Line Cinema. Today, we have word that the studio is "very pleased" with the script, and are currently seeking directors.

The project is an adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan's graphic novel that chronicle the exploits of a man and his pet monkey, the only survivors from a plague that wiped out every male human and mammal on Earth. They also must contend with a tribe of Amazonian women, determined to wipe out Earth's last man. D.J. Caruso was the last director attached to the project before departing two years ago. Louis Leterrier was also circling the adaptation at one time, although a deal was never reached.

Our report from March revealed David S. Goyer, Chris Bender, and J.C. Spink are producing. It isn't known when (or if) production will begin, although things certainly seem to be looking up for this languishing adaptation. Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia are best known for their work on the small screen, writing and producing for shows such as Jericho, Warehouse 13, and Human Target.

Y: The Last Man is in development .

Crossing fingers hoping that it turns out good. & really hope it's not the entire story in one movie because if it is it will suck theres now way you can fit 70 issues into 1 movie & expect it to be any good.

DAVID FINCHER! YOUR NEXT PROJECT IS HERE!

Good god, I hope this adaption works, @dan1. The comic series was fantastic, and an all time favorite. It was so chock full with character development, adventure, espionage, horror, cynicism, philosophy, and even hints of religion. All based on the foundations of a powerhouse of an original plot. Do not fail me New Line!

Nothing like the I Am Legend book, @the-movieghost.

@the-movieghost You could look at it like that but the graphic novel was fantastic! This should be much better than the I Am Legend crapfest, as long as they stay true to the source material.
