Xavier Gens Set to Direct Fallout

The director of a popular 2007 video game adaptation has found a new film to direct. According to Variety, Xavier Gens (Hitman) has come aboard to direct Fallout.

Little was said on the plot of the film, only that it was set in a New York City apartment building that was converted to a fallout shelter in this new post-apocalyptic world.

Production was said to begin this coming February in Eastern Europe.

Btw, did any of you even bother to read or research the films actual synopsis? If so you wouldn't have posted anything relating to this being a "Fallout 3" movie.

This is not a movie based on the game "Fallout 3" of a different title, or pertaining to any of the "fallout"
games. In fact the movies name is being changed because of all the confusion. It is a story about 8 people who become trapped in a Fallout shelter and are forced to survive an apocolyptic event. The film is gritty, intense, and sometimes even funny. It will surprise all of you. Xavier is a talented director with loads of potential. Do you people even do your homework? Hitman was bastardized by the movie studio who saw Xavier's original (and far superior) cut of the film and decided that it was too violent for the kid friendly PG rating they were looking for, and so they re-cut the film. Hence the inferior product your talking about. Typical nonsense.

Hitman was a better video game adaptation, but that's it. Even Timothy O. or Robert Knepper couldn't save that film. It's one of those films that could have easily been so much better but it wasn't type of deals. The games weren't deep, but it had a basic idea to it, which somehow they couldn't do in a movie lol? It wasn't that hard to translate.

If Fallout looks nothing like Fallout, I will seriously freak out haha. I have a feeling the Super Mutants are going to be really corny and look like the Hell Knight creatures in the Doom movie.

I usually see films when people say bad things about certain films, the main reason I don't like going to the theater is because people talk. I've never played the Fallout games.
I have been thinking of renting Hitman despite the negatory statements.
Oh did you all hear, Uwe balls is making a third Blood Rayne. I watched the first half of the 2nd, but hated the plot and the story but I did like the darkness aspect. The acting was terrible.
He's too heavy handed, and thick headed, one of the reasons he's so hated, he has no respect for anything in the field.

    I haven't seen Frontiers.
But in my opinion Xavier is just the wrong director, but then again they also get the most dumbest screenwriters too, because there isn't any logic in Hollywood anymore...

Getting Xavier Gens to do Fallout is like confirming Uwe Balls is directing Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy

Have you people seen Frontier(s)? I haven't played any Fallout games and I haven't seen Hitman, but I'm noticing a lot of negativity.

I have seen Hitman, and it is not the best video game movie, but still not horriable as some has said. I loved Fall Out 3, and hope to see a very similar film that I enjoyed. In The Name of the King was horriable in story, but the action, and the visualizations of the movie was good. But I do find it funny, that someone would comment about something and not even know much about it. If you have not played Fallout, watched Hitman, or such, then why make a lame comment about this news if you realy dont have a formulated opinion about what to expect, or experienced from his past work. Its like someone saying something about Joel S.'s ability on his Batman movies and never seen all of them to see what he did diffrent...

Auditioning Directors is the only way to prove if they have the chops. Give them five or ten minutes to work on a story board for them, then they leave.
If it's good enough another audition comes up, the interesting part gives them a different task or the same to continue to better their first story board. I would say, four auditions would be better to prove their worth.
As for this film, I sure hope it's not sh*tty.

omg this would make an awesome movie, was only thinking that the other day, only thing is Hitman wasn't that strong of a movie and could have been done so much better i hope Mr Xavier Gens doesn't mess it up as it would be a huge dissapoinment as there's so many of us who have played and loved Fallout.

Yeah, Hitman, was an easy movie to do as well. All it basically was was a bald guy sneaking around and killing people and they happened to f*ck that up.

Not sure about that Xavier guy, cause Hitman sucked, but Fallout 3 is completely awesome. It has a lot backstory, so a movie should be easy write.

if it is about the game, in which case i think it is, it was set in Wa DC not NY city.. what the hell? The director has got to know about the game b4 pirsuing any ideas of settings. i think this movie would turn out to be sh*t.

okay, hitman was crap, i concur, but his other film "frontier(s)" was decent (in my humble opinion) but having said that i don't even know what 'fallout' is, and there may be no appeasing people who do.

But you are still looking at his work.

  21. Newkill3000

Messenger, that sounds more like an interview than an audition. An audition for a director would be like if Eli Roth, for example, was auditioning to direct the new Batman movie, and he had to direct a 5 minute piece for the judges and they would determine if he would be suitable.

Auditioning Directors sounds like a good idea, but how could you do it. It's not like they have to read and perform a specific scene.

I've seen In the Name of the King of which I enjoyed, but I think it's certain films that he's good at. Not every film he does is good, as of this director he is slightly better.
I just wish they would audition Directors as well instead of getting a horrible ones.
All well, we can't have it our way, but I wish we could. My nephew told me not to watch Hitman.

As someone who is a huge Fallout 3 fan, as well as someone who watched and hated Hitman because it was utter crap, this is indeed terrible f*cking news. It could be worse, Uwe Boll could be directing, knock on wood

Though I didn't see Hitman and I didn't like Fallout 3 to much my opinion is a bit weak but I don't see to many people liking this choice in director.
