X-Men Origins: Wolverine Takes in $4.4 Million from Midnight Shows

The first film of the summer movie season got off to a solid start at midnight last night. According to Variety, X-Men Origins: Wolverine took in between $4.4 million and $5 million from midnight screenings last night.

20th Century Fox was still tallying the receipts from the midnight shows, so an official figure wasn't announced as of yet. Last year, Iron Man kicked off the summer season with a $5 million take from late Thursday night screenings, en route to an impressive $102 million opening weekend.

It was said that the midnight screenings were held in approximately 2,000 theaters nationwide. The film opens in 4,099 theaters today, the widest release Fox has ever had. While Fox estimated a $70 million opening weekend for the film, the end result could be much higher.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine was released May 1st, 2009 and stars Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, Will i Am, Lynn Collins, Kevin Durand, Dominic Monaghan, Taylor Kitsch. The film is directed by Gavin Hood.

Avenger, i think it's going to tank like Watchmen. A lot of people i know are very disappointed after seeing this. It'll definitely drop.

I really liked how Deadpool, or Weapon XI, had katanas that protruded from his arms. That was cool and made perfect sense. No. That was lame and idiotic.

Everyone has their own taste in movies and some will really enjoy this film while other will criticise the hell out of it. But a failure it is not, a sequel is already in the works.

Much beter storyline then the previous X-men movies. the whole War flash back thing reminded me of Highlander. Im not gonna be one of those guys that points out every flaw in every movie they see. but i will admit there was a few.

This movie was terrible. But I wasn't disappointed, because I didn't expect it to be good in the first place. The only thing worth mentioning is the acting from some of the cast, mostly Jackman and Schreiber. Hell, I figured out how it was going to end by watching the trailers. I had hoped to be proven wrong on this one, but it was a failure in my eyes.

4weston7.... the 4.4 million is an estimate of the MIDNIGHT showings only. It actually made 35 million on Friday alone... so expect it to come real close to your 100 million. I say about 90 to 100 million.

Even though it didn't do it for me, i congratulate Hugh with his solo flick doing so well. Almost beat the one day opening that Iron Man made a year ago.

I saw the movie online and I saw finished version yesterday in cinema with my pals. I have to say that I enjojed the movie in cinema 5 times better than online. Don't watch that movie online! If U like Wolverine character U will love this movie no matter Deadpool's screw up. This movie is about Woverine and his past with Sabertooth( he is great in this movie,I love how is he presented to the audience). Victor Creed and Wolverine are great and that is all you need. The rest comes as a bonus. I was looking for Stan Lee but guess he wasn't in this marvel movie...Forget about that retarded Sabertooth in X-men movie. This one is the best!:)

Agent Vis... Watchmen made 4.6 million but was considered a failure AFTER its first weekend when its boxoffice numbers plummetted... not the day after its great opening night. It was after the bad reviews and bad word of mouth that killed it.

And another thing. Wolverine made 4.4 to 5 million dollars in midnight showings DESPITE the fact it had already been seen by millions online. Watchmen can't say that.

The movie itself is good, they messed up Deadpool but it doesn't really bother me since I don't really care THAT much about him. If they woulda f*cked up WOLVERINE then I'd be pissed. Gambit was okay, had a generic role, had a pimp cane, had a hick accent for some reason, had no mask thingy, he was more of a disapointment than Deadpool personally. The movie looked so much better finished though haha. Still the best x-men movie out.

This film was awesome on cinema and yes i contrubuted despite i saw the leaked, only went to see it because i won the ticks and the advance screenings were showing an uncut version to the film.

Still can't believe they messed up Deadpool though by making him Weapon XI, but oh well what can you do now. Its done and dusted.

Was a great action film though, with comical laughs.
