Directors David Slade and Robert Schwentke have both been approved by 20th Century Fox to direct X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2, and Vulture reports that Slade will most likely direct the film.
David Slade reported to direct Hugh Jackman in X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2
It was said that star Hugh Jackman ultimately has the final say in who will direct the film and he will meet with both Slade and Schwentke next week. The site's source insists, though, that, "It's going to be Slade."
Christopher McQuarrie wrote the script, which will pick up right where X-Men Origins: Wolverine left off, with Jackman's Wolverine in Japan. Here's an excerpt from the site's article where they describe the plot:
"There, he begins a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage is, unfortunately, promised to another man. This being Hugh Jackman, of course, he doesn't take no for an answer. And, this being Japan, that doesn't go over so well. Soon enough, Logan must do battle with her furious father and samurai-sword-wielding brothers."
We also reported earlier this week that Jackman left the film Avon Man to prepare for this sequel. It seems that this film could go before cameras next year. We'll be sure to keep you posted with any furhter details on X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 as soon as we have more information.
The Wolverine was released July 26th, 2013 and stars Hugh Jackman, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, Hiroyuki Sanada, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Brian Tee, Hal Yamanouchi, Will Yun Lee. The film is directed by James Mangold.
