20th Century Fox has announced that they will begin shooting their X-Men: First Class Sequel in January.

Tensions between the studios ran high last month as Fox was considering filming the sequel in the fall with actress Jennifer Lawrence, potentially overlapping Lionsgate's plans for The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire.

The actress stars in both sequels, reprising her role of Mystique in the X-Men: First Class Sequel and taking on a key role in Catching Fire.

X-Men: Days of Future Past comes to theaters July 18th, 2014 and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman. The film is directed by Bryan Singer.

Actually, the title "Second Class" kind of works, if they want to play with the idea of the public knowing about mutants and being afraid and sort of trying to ostracize them.

@jayaottley Maybe they can't get all of those cast members together until then. They do go off n make other movies in the meantime, ya know.

If they have moved the production forward then why not just film in 2012 and then release in 2013... Makes a bit more sense than filing three months in 2013, rushing the post-production for a late 2013, release or possibly early 2014 release

Its gonna be a late 2013 release....or it might get push back to 2014.

@ghostman -- Only three months? Yeah, they probably should work on the next project for that amount of time doubled - to work on the character development. The character motives in the first one made no freakin' sense.

@dan1 It took three months for First Class to film, so if they start in January filming will finish in March giving plenty of time in between for an August 2013 release date.

They should push it back to 2014 if that's the case. Don't rush it again. It still seems like kind of a miracle how well First Class turned out.
