Director Christopher Nolan's Inception has been a big hit in theaters, with three straight wins atop the box office and now it seems that the film has inadvertently shaped the way another film will be made. The Los Angeles Times recently spoke with X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn, who revealed that elements of X-Men: First Class have already been changed to avoid similarities shown in Inception. Here's an excerpt from the article.

"I saw Inception, which I loved," Vaughn said Monday. "But my heart sank when I saw that a few of the ideas we had were up [on the screen]. So it's either leave it in and look as if you're copying or change things. We completely ripped out about 12 pages of the script and the storyboards."

Vaughn said that the scrapped sequence involved a, "fight involving Professor X (James McAvoy) and some other mutants was to going to be presented with spinning rooms and other physics-bending imagery -- visions that he felt drifted too close to signature moments in Inception."

We'll be sure to keep you posted with any further updates regarding X-Men: First Class as soon as we have more information.

X-Men: First Class was released June 3rd, 2011 and stars James McAvoy, Laurence Belcher, Michael Fassbender, Bill Milner, Kevin Bacon, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Beth Goddard. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn.

Unfortunate, but at least this shows that they're trying to be creative.

Don't think he should have taken that scene out. It was awesome in Inception so why not tweak it up and explore what more he could do with that type of fighting.

Agree with @Vis and @ejk1. Vaughn has proven himself as a capable director. I trust him. Looking forward to picking up a copy of Kick-Ass from Best Buy tomorrow.

If the scenes were true to the powers of the mutants involved, then Vaughn should have left them in the movie. Although some would compare the two movies, no one would question the validity of the reasons as to why the scenes belong in X-Men.

Well I am sure they will still have some bad ass moments. I give him props for trying to go down an un-done path. Also, Vaugh has fan/cult hits under his belt: Layer Cake and Stardust. Kick Ass is his best to date thou.

Nolan is smarter than you, Vaughn. You've got #KickAss under your belt...while the unstoppable Nolan has movies like #Memento, #BatmanBegins, and #TheDarkKnight.... come on!
