X-Men: First Class recreating X-Men's first scene set in 1944 Poland
The scene takes place during World War II Poland in 1944, where we first meet the young Eric Lensherr inside a Nazi concentration camp, and where he first discovers his ability to create magnetic fields. The first steps on Lensherr's path to becoming Magneto. Matthew Vaughn is recreating the scene shot-for-shot, at least up to a certain point, where he will then add his own twist on the iconic moment.
The site also reports that Son of Rambow's Bill Milner will be portraying the young Leshnerr/Magneto in this particular scene. They wouldn't reveal the twists involved, but they did say Matthew Vaughn is paying close attention to detail in the scene, with video reference of the first scene available for cast and crew members to recreate it in exquisite detail.
X-Men: First Class was released June 3rd, 2011 and stars James McAvoy, Laurence Belcher, Michael Fassbender, Bill Milner, Kevin Bacon, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Beth Goddard. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn.

I like this. It's a way to pay homage to the original film while still allowing Vaughn to create his own world and start fresh with the series.

One: too many characters
Two: continuity is gone
Three: X-Men films are a waste of time now

The idea is ok but i really think the x men series hasn't payed much attention to the continuity and in the world of modern cinema people care alot about continuity. Like others i think they should show different aspects of magneto's past inside the concentration camp but not recreate the scene. Wolverine was a good film but they made a bit too much confusion on the canon aspect.

im still not impressed... this are the characters I recognized first and liked even in comparison with the Avengers. I would only know if Matthew Vaughn and the cast did a very well made movie through my own eyes!

does anyone else get the idea theyre just winging it when it comes to this film, throwing in random characters just cause they werent introduced in the other films to see if the public can begin to like them as much as the main x-men characters, timeline continuity is out the window and hoping on the success on the fact its being called an " X-men " movie, when the only thing x-men bout it is the title...sorry just venting here people :]

Bad idea altogether. It ruins the X-Men 1 scene for many fans of that movie if it's not done right. My idea probably would have been to shoot different aspects of that concentration camp he was in, maybe show other things that took place there. I wouldn't try to shoot the same scene over again, that's a bad move I think.

why not just use the old shot from X-men 1?

First, I'm not sure I'd call it an iconic moment, but I guess that's in the eye of the beholder. Second, when I first heard about this movie, I was excited, but with every bit of information I get, I become less and less so. It's not what I expected, so that's probably on me, but the way they are playing with the canon is confusing and irritating.
