Director Matthew Vaughn, the man behind X-Men: First Class and Kick-Ass, has stayed close with Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar, sharing information with him about the highly anticipated sequel X-Men: Days of Future Past.

According to Millar, it sounds like Vaughn is throwing everything, including the kitchen sink, into this follow-up to the critically acclaimed and fan adored first prequel.

Here's what we can expect.

"Vaughn is going for a big sci-fi style thing with X-Men: Days of Future Past. It's X-Men meets The Terminator. You've got robots, you've got time travel, you've got superheroes - it's got everything in one film. Cost-wise it's going to go up, and ambitious-wise it's gone up. But Vaughn can handle it. Vaughn made Kick-Ass for $28 million.


That's exciting news, except the part where we have to wait until 2014 to see it. In terms of the robots, many are speculating that the giant Sentinels will play a major role in the storyline, something the fans have been clamoring for, for a long time.

X-Men: Days of Future Past comes to theaters July 18th, 2014 and stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman. The film is directed by Bryan Singer.

    Finally Sentinels! It only took four movies! And I'm not talking about that training session in Last Stand. That was just a half baked tease. I hope they bring in Logan. He has to shred some of those things. I loved in First Class, when in the bar, Logan simply says "F**K off!" and they both just walked away in not saying another word . True Wolverine Boss Style!

    @justatadmatt Yes. And the cameo had me in stitches. But that's the perfect example. He wasn't the main character but still incredibly likable even in those 10 short seconds.

    @gandoff2169 You do speak the truth. I've also enjoyed 4 of the 5 X-Men films. But why was First Class so good over the other four? Because for a change there was no Wolverine. Hugh Jackman kills the role and Wolverine himself is a great character, but there are so many more, and better, X-Men to focus on that I think it's time to put the spotlight on others for once.

    I have been seriously disappointed in all X-men movies since 3. For me, 3 was terrible and wolverine was good until the end when it butchered Deadpool. First-class was okay. Now when they're doing Sentinels in a sequel to a prequel, a question of logic is risen:

    IF THEY'RE IN THE PAST, WHERE ARE THE SENTINELS IN THE PRESENT-DAY BASED X-MEN MOVIES?!

    I just never have high hope for these movies anymore.

    @ROFLitschristian Wolverine is a good key to a movie, if he is not used as the central piece like the three X-Men movies did. I am not only a Wolverine fan above all other X-Men characters, but I know he is not the only one. They would do tag team moves in the comics. Nightcrawler, Colossus, and Wolverine would do trio tosses. That kind of thing against Sentials would be sweet. But not the Wolverine show again. And I was one of the few who enjoyed all three X-men films... lol

    @kingbrady Is set ten years after the events in First Class, Mathew Vaughn said the sequels will be set ten years apart from one another, and that' s perfect, because they can introduce more characters to the Storyline!!

    i have no interest in x-men in Fox. i may watch the film still because i truly love x-men but i'll never pay for it. not until they return to MCU. First Class was a class but it was far from being The X-Men. it's a bastardized version of what Marvel created. any sequel built on such a materially-unfaithful premise is doomed.
