Brad Pitt's World War Z is being eyed as a trilogy

This is the first we've heard about World War Z being expanded into a franchise, and it isn't known if the studio is looking at writers for the two potential sequels. Matthew Michael Carnahan and J. Michael Straczynski wrote the screenplay adaptation for World War Z, based on Max Brooks' novel. Brad Pitt stars as a United Nations employee who travels the world, interviewing survivors of the worldwide zombie infestation.
World War Z comes to theaters June 2013 and stars Brad Pitt, Eric West, Matthew Fox, David Morse, James Badge Dale, Mireille Enos, David Andrews, Elyes Gabel. The film is directed by Marc Forster.

This is good news, cause that book is far too detailed to be properly adapted into one movie...presuming of course they excluded some of the story lines, cause it seems like it would be far too long for one movie.

The Narrator: The Better Man
Well ,they've already deviated substantially from the real jist of the book, from what I can tell. Comments like, "retains spirit of the book" only further support that theory. However, they appear to still have quite a few stories to tell, most of which will probably come from the book. If they want to wrap their own main story around those smaller tales, and further flesh those survivor stories out, I won't argue, so long as they really put the effort in to live up the potential of the (now) franchise.

@bawnian-dexeus Dan thinks this better indicate they plan on doing a slower burn of the story than previously thought. If so, I may yet be happy over this project.

Not sure what to think of this. I'm already curious to see how the first movie is gonna work based on the book's format. The book was excellent, but I'd for sequels to a movie-adaptation ruin that...
