World War Z Loses Matthew Fox and Ed Harris

Paramount Pictures' zombie project World War Z is currently in production in Malta, although two previously-reported cast members will not be reporting for duty. Matthew Fox and Ed Harris have dropped out of the project, just weeks after they reportedly joined the cast.

Matthew Fox was forced to bow out due to scheduling conflicts with I, Alex Cross, which starts shooting in August. It isn't known why Ed Harris stepped away from the project.

It is said that both Matthew Fox and Ed Harris had smaller roles in World War Z, but producers are trying to recast both parts rather quickly, with readings set up in Los Angeles and London.

Marc Forster is directing World War Z from a screenplay by J. Michael Straczynski and Matthew Michael Carnahan, which is adapted from the Max Brooks novel. The story is set 10 years after a worldwide zombie attack, and told through multiple perspectives of survivors around the world.

World War Z comes to theaters June 2013 and stars Brad Pitt, Eric West, Matthew Fox, David Morse, James Badge Dale, Mireille Enos, David Andrews, Elyes Gabel. The film is directed by Marc Forster.

Hopefully they didn't leave because they don't like the way the screenplay is going to be so different from the book.

WTF was looking forwards to seeing Matthew in a big movie... but now hoping for something good from "I, Alex Cross" which also includes Jean Reno but then again it has Tyler Perry who makes them awful comedy (spoofs) movies =P

Good. There was a weird coherence with those two attached to the film. Matthew Fox is great on Lost, but he essentially plays Jack in every movie he's in. As for Ed Harris, he's a great actor, but not an irreplaceable one. This may be a blessing in disguise for the weary lot, depending on who they get to replace them.
