Work It cancelled by ABC
Work It debuted with a modest 2.0 ratings and 6.1 million viewers overall on January 3, and was down 20% after its second episode. The series also caused quite a stir with critics who lambasted the show. Groups such as The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and the Human Rights Campaign also publicly spoke out against the show, saying it had a negative impact on the transgender community.
Amaury Nolasco and Benjamin Koldyke starred in Work It, which centered around two male friends who can't find a job in the current economy. Desparate for work, they dress up as women to score new jobs.

I'm going to have to agree with Tiffany. I think a lot of people judged this show without actually watching it and seeing how they actually handled things. Overall it viewed things in a positive light and I was looking forward to an episode where they dealt with actual transgendered people to see how they handled it, then I would judge it accordingly.

@Dan-- I do not believe that someone's right to view a show should be taken away (even if it is a show I personally find offensive). If someone find it offensive, change the channel. And anyway, why doesn't GLAAD do something about all these shows that use lesbianism in a degrading way to attract male viewers?

@Tiffany-Colasuonno How about just any reality show with the word "Real" in its title? That'll knock out a ton of em.

And secondly, if they are going to take "garbage" off tv they should (and I will probably get a lot of bashing for this) take off shows like America's Next Top Model, the Miss America Pageant and all that celebrity garbage that represents women in a sexually objectifying way as nothing more than something to please man's eye. And also shows like Real Shot of Love where women had to clean horse sh*t to prove their love for some *****. Is that what a woman's worth is? And with ANTM, I found it offensive that they tried to make 2 straight women look seductive with one another to sell products (using lesbianism in a degrading way to get people to buy a product). Anyway, did I start a petition over any of these shows? No; sorry GLAAD but you should not have taken away someone's right to view this show--next time, do what I would do when the shows mentioned above came on--change the channel
Work It just demonstrated unfairness in the workforce that is often overlooked.

In my opinion and as someone who is actively a member of the LGBTA Community, I do not think the show should have been canceled. They were not poking fun at the transgender community. They were simply displaying themselves as a different gender to reach their goal of finding a job. Even though there are laws that claim you cannot discriminate against gender, sexual orientation, race, etc, I do not believe these laws are entirely enforced. And besides, by these men living as "women" for their job, they were slowly starting to see how oppressed women can feel and would be able to better understand the role of the women in their lives and society.
Anyway, this is just my opinion but I say ABC should bring it back!

Good judgment by ABC in canceling, but it doesn't make up for the poor taste of airing it to begin with.
