The CW Network is developing a Wonder Woman TV series
Grey's Anatomy writer Allan Heinberg is writing the pilot script, that will take a much different approach to the superhero character. This version will center on a younger version of Diana of Themyscira, telling her origin story. Allan Heinberg does have a background in comics, writing the Young Avengers series back in 2005.
The network is only developing the script at this time, and no commitments have been made to actually make the pilot yet. It is also worth noting that Warner Bros. has been developing a Wonder Woman movie for some time now, with Michael Goldenberg working on the screenplay. It will be interesting to see if the film or TV version gets off the ground first.
If the show does make it to series, it may serve as a nice companion to the network's other superhero show, Arrow, debuting October 10.

@comicbookfan We've been in agreement about Ms. Swan for what seems like years. She's the right choice for the TV show or film. I'm looking forward to seeing how they handle this.

@felipe-11 I was saying. I mentioned after your post, some of the ones that you had said, that i thought might be a good choice for a Tomb Raider movie reboot.

Keep it animated. WW is one of those characters that just doesn't translate well to live action. Cheesecake in a bikini is really difficult to make look realistic when punching someone. Even Lucy Lawless in Xena could barely pull it off half the time. And her sidekick always looked like she had trouble swinging the stick she hit people with. - Of course the previous incarnation was nothing but teenage boy fantasy material so maybe that works.

I've always pictured Olivia Wilde as WW.

@narrator if now Swan how about Olivia Wilde???? Definitely no to Megan Fox... if she ever got cast as Wonder Woman I am sure I would burn DC Studios to the ground!!!

@narrator I agree, Kristen Stewart is definitely a huge NO-NO. Megan Fox would never get the part, but personally I've just always been curious about her; besides her obvious looks she actually seems like decent, intelligent person, I'd like to see if some acting lessons and a good director could possibly broaden her range a bit.
Mmm british actresses... Emily Blunt perhaps? I wouldn't go with anyone over 30 (I'm imagining a Tomb Raider movie based on the upcoming game where she's still a young Lara). Who would you would choose?

@narrator Thanks! Yeah, I know. Loved her cameo in Tron: Legacy.

The question is, will they go with short blue star attire ?

I've seen footage of the unaired Wonder Woman pilot from last year, and it sucked like you wouldn't believe. Now, with this show coming from The CW, I feel some hope going on here.

How about an actual british person for Lara, @felipe-11? It'd save hiring an accent coach. Gemma is definitely an interesting choice that I can see myself supporting. None of those anorexic chick-of-the-week actresses should ever be considered for the roll, ala Kristen Stewart or Megan Fox.
Great choice for Wonder Woman, @comicbookfan. Hot as hell too.
And yeah, @dan1, I know and understand that. That doesn't mean I have to like it :P

@felipe-11 Jennifer Lawrence or Summer Glau as Lara Croft in a Tomber Raider movie reboot? One of those two actresses might be a good choice for a Tomb Raider reboot to star in it.

@themoviefanatic For Lara Croft I'd go with a relatively "fresh" face, someone we've seen around, but not too much yet, ya know? No really big stars like Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman (although they'd nail it too).
Gemma Arterton would be my second choice after Wilde. Mila Kunis perhaps? Jennifer Lawrence? Summer Glau? I'd even dare to say Megan Fox under the right director...

@felipe-11 Other than Olivia Wilde, who else would you say could possibly play to role of Lara Coft in a Tomb Raider reboot? Maybe Wonder Woman would be the better choice for Olivia Wilde to play the role of in a Wonder Woman movie, better then her playing Lara Croft in a Tomb Raider Reboot?

@narrator We both know Whedon is done with WB/DC, they already burned him, and he's been burned a few times now. With Marvel/Disney loving him up, I'm pretty certain he won't be changing teams any time soon. I know I wouldn't if I was him.
@felipe-11 lmao...

This idea sucks. I mean the pilot for the actual "grown" WW barely managed to generate any interest, why would this? Warner, it's about f*cking time you get outside your little box and start giving the big-screen time to the franchises who deserve it.
A young Wonder Woman show? A young Green Arrow show? A Jonah Hex movie? Why don't go f*ck yourselves and call us when you decide to make a truly epic superhero movie that isn't Batman or Superman. And THEN you can have your little wannabe-Smallville TV shows.
@themoviefanatic@psychobilly13@narrator I'd say Olivia Wilde would be great for a WW movie, but I'd rather see her "saved" for a Tomb Raider reboot.

CW's ruined Green Arrow, muddled a large portion of Superman, and doesn't seem to be improving. This isn't a good idea. Whedon is the only guy I'd trust at the moment to oversee a show based on Wonder Woman, and he's not involved (take a hint DC!). We want/need a film, and a good one. Not this.
