Wonder Woman Gets Dropped by NBC

NBC drops Wonder Woman
NBC has decided to pass on David E. Kelley's Wonder Woman TV series, despite having the most buzz of any pilot this season.

The news comes after lackluster reception and a network screening that went poorly. The drama, produced by Warner Bros. TV, is a reinvention of the iconic DC comic in which Wonder Woman (Adrianne Palicki) is a vigilante crime-fighter in Los Angeles but also a successful corporate executive trying to balance all the elements of her extraordinary life.

Adrianne Palicki was joined by Elizabeth Hurley, Tracie Thoms and Cary Elwes. Jeffrey Reiner (The Event) directed the pilot. It is rumored that the network is set to renew David E. Kelley's first season drama, Harry's Law, instead.

Actress Tracie Thoms took to Twitter to voice her disappointment:

"I am very sad that NBC passed on Wonder Woman. But that just goes to show you: There is no such thing as a "sure thing" in this biz."

it just amazes me that this whole idea got as far as it did... there is no way that we all saw how bad it was and yet nobody actually working on the show could see it. crazy. wouldve saved them a ton of money!

Ha! Given how awesome Kelley thought his treatment was and how awful everyone else did, I find this amusing.

I'm not surprised. Until DC starts to really take things non-Batman seriously, Marvel will continue to be #1. JA is a great choice for a WW movie, but I wonder if that is ever going to be put back on the table now that she is Sif. Serinda Swan also gets a thumbs up from me.

I would like to see a Super-girl TV series instead. They should have gone with that script Joss Wedon wrote for the WW film.

@account-closed Powers of an elite amazon princess, daughter of Hyppolita. Throw in all the Greek gods and Ares and you got yourself a live action of the animated DVD. Same as with Green Lantern only in this case it has the big cloud demon and no Sinestro in his yellow attire.

Not sure JA has the frame to pull off the WW costume but she was good in Thor. I think Palicki hold's her own in the outfit better than Jamie can, she's just a bit too small for the role.

i totally agree! and thats why Jaimie needs to stay away from WB. shes good, shes on a roll...WB will only ruin that for her.

@TheMightyThor Nonsense. WB is ruining themselves by not getting serious about a WW film.

as much as i loved Jaimie in Thor, she needs to stay far away from DC movies. it'll only ruin her.

This show was doomed from the start. BAD premise, bad script, total miscasting. Immediate fail. It was not a modern take on the character, it was completely out of character and just plain stupid.

We want a Wonder Woman feature that follows the comics faithfully.

DC, watch how Marvel does things.

The cast seameed good. But I just never was a person who saw WW as a huge super hero for tv, or a stand alone feature film. I just dont know much on her and her comic books to be a real judgment of her powers, villians, ect. But from all other showins of her character I have seen; I just think she should be in JLA, and not be put on tv. I would rather see a Gotham City tv show, based on a younge Bruce Wayne becomming batman, training, ect. Yeah, i know Nolan would toss a fit till his movie is out and such. But if you think on Smallville, and how it was on TV, despite the major diffrence in the story arcs in the movies, and the Returns movie, then it could work.
