Wolverine may join up with X-Men: First Class
For a while, there was a rumor going around that Hugh Jackman was bringing The Wolverine into X-Men: First Class for a cameo. While that was shot down (but still a possibility if they are indeed keeping it a surprise), producer Bryan Singer, director of the first two X-Men outings, has confirmed that there is a strong possibility Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Logan in a future follow-up to X-Men: First Class.

This is what Bryan Singer had to say on the matter.

"I think there would definitely be room. I think it would be a very exciting thing. This universe has to establish itself first, but that would be a very interesting and fun thing."

Bryan Singer also claims that he is not scared of having an X-Men movie without The Wolverine.

"It's a completely different film. Xavier and Magneto are important characters as well. It's just a different X-Men film. I obviously love the character, but you can't not do it just because he's not in it."

The Wolverine comes to theaters July 26th, 2013 and stars Hugh Jackman. The film is directed by James Mangold.

X-Men: First Class was released June 3rd, 2011 and stars James McAvoy, Laurence Belcher, Michael Fassbender, Bill Milner, Kevin Bacon, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Beth Goddard. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn.

Nothing against Jackman, he's entertaining, but I agree with those that say this movie and it's sequels needs to be about the rest of the team and leave the Wolverine in his own movies.

That's good, Wolverine is still one of the coolest characters in the Xmen universe.

@shuabert Exactly, It just wouldn't fit in with the continuity. I say just scrap the idea...

I have no problem with Jackman showing up in prequels, but they would have to be careful how they did it if they want the continuity to line up with the other films. They made sure to not have Wolverine and Xavier meet in Xmen Origins because in the first X-Men film they're (apparently) meeting for the first time. If they have Wolverine join the X-Men at some point in the past it will make the 2000 film make no sense. He would have to be worked in subtly, perhaps meeting some of the characters but never interacting with the team or Xavier himself.

I say let this new trilogy be about X-men characters sans Wolverine, maybe tease his future appearance in the last film of this trilogy to tie in his coming into the first film, leave Wolverine to his solo movies for the time being

im sure the franchise will still be ok without having to jump and put him in a First Class sequel already

...Im still hoping if they do plan to do the sequels in different decades 60's,70's and 80's, we get a young Storm with the mohawk for the 80's sequel :D

They might as well just call this a rebooted series.

    Jackman owns Wolverine.

Not sure about this. Im a huge wolverine fan, But im not checking out First class due to the fact that wolverine's not in it. I mean taking Wolverine out of an X men movie is like Taking Captain America out of an Avengers movie or Batman out of a JL movie, I mean you can do it but your taking out the main draw of franchise.

@felipe-11 It wasn't half as good as the actual story. I'll give u the Usual Suspects. Even though it's the most overrated film of the 90s, it's by far his best film.

@thedude-abides Valkyrie was amazing, I don't know what your talking about... The Usual Suspects was also kick-ass and I can't think of anything I've disliked from him...

Can't stand Bryan Singer. The story of Valkyrie is amazing and he came very close to butchering it with his superhero fluff touch.
