Willem Dafoe has signed on to the drama, Adam Resurrected for Bleiberg Entertainment.

He'll star opposite Jeff Goldblum in the World War II Holocaust film based on the 2000 book by Israeli novelist Yoram Kaniuk. The Hollywood Reporter notes it centers on Adam Stein (Goldblum), a former circus clown who was spared the gas chamber so he could entertain thousands of Jews as they marched to their deaths. Dafoe is playing a Nazi officer whose life is saved by Stein; he later spares Stein.

Paul Schrader is directing Adam Resurrected; production is set for an April start in Germany, Romania and Israel.
