Transformers 4 will happen even without Michael Bay
But Brian Goldner still holds out hope that Michael Bay will eventually change his mind and return to do Transfomers 4. Here is what Goldner had to say.
"I would say to you right now that I've so enjoyed working with Michael Bay. (He) has got this incredible visual sense for showing you things you've never seen before. Perhaps he'll change his mind, perhaps he won't, but I'd rather put out this movie first then cross that bridge at some point.
Brian Goldner also talked about his high hopes for Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
"I really believe it is (the best film in the series), and the reason is because we've learned so many things as we've made [these films]. The fact is, there's a lot of story here...But we also understand the great spectacle of what 'Transformers' can be. It's a great marriage, but with greater meaning. The first trailer shows that the space race is a backdrop to something that had gone on in our past that nobody was aware of. In typical 'Transformers' fashion, it's all about more than meets the eye. That's the core of what 'Transformers' is: you can never judge a book by its cover. We're going to reveal to you, in much more of a thriller style than ever before, that idea of what's going on behind this whole 'Transformers' pre-history."
Brian Goldner says that Transformers: Dark of the Moon has a higher stakes storyline this time out, and that they won't make the same mistakes as Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
"Dark of the Moon' has many meanings. It's clearly what we know from the teaser trailer, but it's also this idea that there's darkness, a real cataclysm that could occur here based on knowing the truth of what's happening. If everyone had understood why each Transformer was in the movie, people wouldn't have cared how many there were. But once they're just these robots without any real meaning of why they're there, it just became robot melee, and that's not as enjoyable as knowing something about each robot and their personality so that when they do fight, there are stakes to it. That's really what was missing. It wasn't that there were so many robots; there were so many robots that you didn't know."
Transformers: Dark of the Moon was released June 29th, 2011 and stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Julie White, Kevin Dunn, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Alan Tudyk, John Malkovich. The film is directed by Michael Bay.
Transformers was released July 2nd, 2007 and stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Rachael Taylor, Anthony Anderson, Jon Voight, John Turturro. The film is directed by Michael Bay.

The Movie Ghost
@paul Nolan: Either of those would be amazing, especially Unicron. Sideways was supposedly an agent for Unicron, or so I've read.

I just got finished, watching the transformers 3 movie is was great, but then ending left me a little need a bit more to it type thing. MIke or another damn good director needs to make one more movie one with a little more deepth of robot character, and as i climax bring in unicron and the dinobots. that combo there will have people jumping out there seats and leave the series on a perfect note.( and not just show part of unicron the the whole damn planet, transformation and all where the autobots and decepticons have to join forces to end the war type battle) hint hint. come on guys make one more for the team and light our darkest hour

@mr-jellyfish i know this comment is late i have been out of town but i think the answer is that like so many other things its sort of a cookie cutter method. It is designed to be safe, like so much of the music these days its meant to appeal to a mass audience. Does that make it good? not really but it means that people who dont really appreciate the art form can get in to it as well as those that do. I am not a fan however. I agree with you completly.

@skywise no haha, I meant the talent show with Simon Cowell; it's a brightly coloured, soulless thing which also happens to be insanely popular, and I just don't understand why

I can't say I'm disappointed by this. Bay had a great run, albeit a screw-up with RotF. Hopefully he can pull this third Movie off right.
As to TF4, I'll look forward to a new Director to take the helm and put their own spin on this Franchise.

As long as the new director gets to use Spielberg's special effects studio like Bay, then I'm all for it.

@bud2fresh the cartoon movie was good enough. If they never get around to it on the big screen then at least we have the original movie.

@mr-jellyfish Are you referring to the Marvel universe X-Factor?

Let it die, please just let it die. Transformers is like the X-factor of the cinema.

@bud2fresh In order to tdo the Unicron story right, OP must die so the matrix can be passed down eventually to Hot Rob. I really probably shouldnt even champion this plotline as the animated movie did a wonderful job conveying the desperation of that time period but still....i would like to see a live action version.
