Stephen Sommers may direct Odd Thomas
The movie would be an adaptation of author Dean R. Koontz' Odd Thomas novel series, which he started in 2003. There have been four books (Odd Thomas, Forever Odd, Brother Odd and Odd Hours) and two graphic novels in the series. The books center on a character who can see the dead and, although he cannot speak with them, tries to help them solve their problems.
We reported last month that Stephen Sommers is returning to direct the Untitled G.I. Joe Sequel. It isn't clear yet when the sequel would go into production, or if this Odd Thomas project would go before the Untitled G.I. Joe Sequel.

The first novel is a wonderful peice of fiction and the following novels are good as well. I have wanted this to get adapted for a long time but i am no Sommers fan. TheREALavatah has it right. Someone who knows this type of material!

Sommers directing Odd Thomas? That's a bad idea. Odd Thomas didn't deal in biological weapons and guys with metal faces or mummies that want to cause the Apocalypse. This needs to go to someone who's more familiar with Koontz's type of material. Guillermo Del Toro would bring an interesting perspective to it. If you watch The Orphanage (of which Del Toro was a producer and influence), you can see he could deal with Odd Thomas's story in a manner that would have more 'substance' then Sommers could bring to the table.
End rant. lol.

I'm a fan of the books and would like to see them as movies. Let's just keep Summers away from it, stick with GI Joe.
