Will Sharlto Copley Play Murdock in The A-Team?
In a story from BlackFilm.com, a reliable source for the website has learned that Sharlto Copley (the breakout star from District 9) has been offered to play Murdock in the big screen version of The A-Team.

Nothing is currently confirmed as far as Copley's involvement.

Some of the names being talked about are Jim Carrey, Steve Buscemi, Timothy Olyphant, Woody Harrelson, etc. Actors that are currently signed on to this project are Liam Neeson as Col. John 'Hannibal' Smith, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson as Sgt. Bosco 'B.A.' Baracus and Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton 'Faceman' Peck.

Director Carnahan and Tony and Ridley Scott say they will use the original premise of the series as the template for an action film. In the original, four Vietnam vets convicted of armed robbery escape from military prison and became do-gooder mercenaries.

The Middle East will replace Vietnam as the place the four did their tour of duty, but Carnahan said the origin story is the jumping-off point.

The original series, which ran from 1983-87 and starred George Peppard, Mr. T, Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz, followed an unofficial team of Vietnam vets who will stop at nothing to get the bad guys. Sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit, these four commandos escaped from a maximum-security stockade and now survive in the Los Angeles underground as soldiers of fortune.

Stephen J. Cannell, who created the show, will produce the movie with Jules Daly, Ridley Scott, with Tony Scott executive producing through their Scott Free banner.

Also producing is Stephen J. Cannell, the latter of whom created the original TV series.

The A-Team is currently shooting in Vancouver, Canada with a release set for June 11. The studio is 20th Century Fox.

The A-Team was released June 11th, 2010 and stars Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Biel, Quinton Jackson, Sharlto Copley, Patrick Wilson, Gerald McRaney, Henry Czerny. The film is directed by Joe Carnahan.

Never really understood the A-Team (cause I really never watched it) but this sounds okay thus far. I like most of the actors thus far and both Scott's on board this will be rad.

  3. The Narrator: The Better Man

He definitely fits the bill. Him, Chris Pine, Robert Redford, and possibly Jamie Foxx would be my perfect A-Team cast...if only.
