Could Ghostbusters 3 be in 3D?
We recently reported that director Ivan Reitman will be returning to direct Ghostbusters 3, with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson all set to reprise their roles.

Now, Market Saw Blog is reporting that one of its top sources has a friend at a certain well known effects house (initials are ILM) said that Ghostbusters 3 is proceeding as planned - but - with the added benefit of stereoscopic 3D!

Writers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are currently working on the second draft of the script.

Ghostbusters 3 is in development and stars Sigourney Weaver, Anna Faris, Eliza Dushku, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Annie Potts, Ernie Hudson. The film is directed by Ivan Reitman.

I'll say this 3D goes great with special effects, but not outside of that. So filmmakers who use alot of special effects and like to create new special effect technology 3D is for them. So this will fit in nicely with George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and James Cameron.

The question to think about is, would filmmakers like Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard, Michael Mann, Steven Soderbergh, Mike Nichols and Sofia Coppola want 3D in their movie or make one that is 3D driven.

*sigh* to the dark knight and incmob, not all theaters give you the option, especially if you live in a smaller city, you have only 1 option, the 3D option lol. I would like for you guys to not say those comments again cause they are wrong. What you said was incorrect, no offense. I'm not picking on you guys but this just goes to show how many people on the internet don't really know what they are talking about when they type. (I like you guys just fine so don't kill me here haha).

  7. The Narrator: The Better Man

Just kidding thou, but really, 3D is fun and all (I saw the 3d high def tv's sony is releasing soon, along with 3D games/movies etc, and I loved 'em), but it will cost more money to put into making it "Real D" instead of money being used to focus on its story or its effects or even backdrop etc. If Avatar took a sixth of its funds towards 3D, and put it into screeners and additional writers to actually check the story and see if its worthy (and if Cameron's ego could have handled it) then it would have been better. So I am hoping the same happens here. because as "fun" as 2 was, it was pretty lame.

i agree dark knight, that it will be released in both versions and the public has the choice. for those that dont want it, see it in 2d, i think avatar will set the standards where it is not as gimmicky as most of the 3d that we have come to know, where in the 2d version of those films, the elements are not fitting, because they were made with only 3d in mind (example: jaws 3d, friday the 13th 3, spy kids 3, bloody valentine among others).

my point is that there is a market for 3d, and even before avatar, 3d has become much more popular due to better technology. I am not torn by one or the other, but also agree that not everything is deserving to be in 3d, but this might be a film that will warrant it, especially for kids that feel like they are actually in the movie... to some degree.

3D would work well with this. Of course its not for every movie, but I don't see what it hurts. Just don't see it in 3D if you don't like it.

Damn, there's a nasty little 3D backlash in here! Not Every movie is going to get the 3D treatment as hyperbolically protested...only fantasy vehicles such as this, which will be cool with all manner of ghosts/beasts running amok...hope they release this on a Halloween!

really do they need to reless every movie now in 3-D like i say before if they reless the
movie both ways with and with out 3-D then it is ok

I'll say this not every movie need to be in 3D, unless it is special effect driven with a good storyline. Other then that we don't need it, or we would have see movies like Up In The Air, It's Complicated, The Spy Next Door, When In Rome, Extraordinary Measures, Sherlock Holmes, Hurt Locker, The Man Who Stare At Goats, Public Enemies, Edge of Darkness and Invictus in 3D. They should just use IMAX and Extreme Digital Cinema together, if they want to go beyond basic movie making of today.

hey i have some advice for the makers, too.
KNOW that your target demorgraphic for this movie is adults, not kids, and write the story accordingly.
i'm not saying it needs to be rated R, i just don't want to be all cutesy and sh*t.
