I hope whoever they pick can fit the character and is able to act. Im a big fan of the comic book and hope that they will take it seriously and not mess it up like daredevil and ghost rider.

as much as i think HHH would fit the bill i hav to agree with fixit, his height would b hard to overcome for the part, test would look right except maybe his face, it just doesn't fit to me, whom ever they pick good luck cuz they gonna have to work thier ass off for the part.
i am however surprised no-one has yet said gerald butler but then maybe that'll b tooo hard cuz he aint any bigger than HHH, and i cant quite imagine him with bleach blond hair lol
no real comment on the daredevil movie cuz when it came out i was first in line to see and buy it, now watching it today compared to the rest of whats come out, it doesnt stand out as much.

i gotta say idk bout Bacon for thay role, it would be really interesting, i'd have to see him try to do it, that might actually work for me.
but yeah there was really no aspect of that movie i liked at all. the directors cut was better but still not that good. Guy Pierce as DD, the guy who played Ben Urich was ok, i forget his name. I just picture someone a lil older. Jon Favreu as Foggy Nelson was good though i liked that alot.

Precisely MSJ's Daredevil I'm talking about Comrade. I an respect others appreciation of Colin Farell as Bullseye but to me it was just a let down. The immediate impression I had during most, if not all, of his scenes was that the dude simply tried too hard.
Bullseye's a psychotic killer with an ego- the only impression Farell left was that of a goatee sporting, frenzied junkie. Not to mention all the pointless grimaces. To me a guy like...I dunno say Kevin Beacon would have done a better job ...well at least CF's
performace made your day, even if he didnt convince me.

HHH is too short in my opinion, and who knows if he can really act. I would put money on Andrew "Test" Martin if anyone in the wrestling business is looked upon. I only say Test since he has the height, at about 6'-5" - 6'-8" and he's built pretty big, and is not all "puffy" like HHH is.
I think Donald Blake will only come in at the end of the movie where he is seen possibly setting out to find what new role he (Thor) has in the world now that he is in this new form/body.

to answer Kirk, Donald Blake is to Thor as Bruce Banner is to Hulk, essentially. there r some difference, i'm pretty positive Thor can change between the two at will. i may be wrong but i am pretty sure that is the jist of it.

Without deviating from the comics of fantastical elements of Thor, it is pretty safe to assume that Donald Blake will be the tie between an ancient God like Thor and the very modern world which is home to The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, etc. So this must be their way of getting Thor into a modern time and modern storyline. If this is true, it's not a bad decision seeing as how the filmmakers are sticking to the essence of the comics.

I'm thoroughly intrigued in this. I don't know specifics about Thor though. Could someone explain just a little about Donald Blake and his significance? LOL! it's got me a bit confused. Hopefully this comment doesn't attract a thrashing on me haha

I just assumed that for the movie Donald Blake naturally would show up. I thought that the casting rumors were involving who would play Donald Blake, not Thor.

There has been some rumors going on that after Daniel Craig turned down the role of Thor Marvel has been in talks with WWE's Triple H for a possibility of the role.

Jennifer Garner for one. ;)
I don't know, I thought it was a pretty kickass movie, and that's saying something since the only other thing I've ever liked Ben Affleck in was "Gigli" (Which I seem to be VERY alone in). It could be that I like it because I'm not familiar with the DareDevil comics. lolz.

I didn't mind the DD movie, but I wasn't happy about Colin Farrell being the villian. I have nothing against him, I just think they could have found someone a little more "mean" looking. I don't see him as being a threat with his face...lol.
As far as Thor is concerned, I cannot think of anyone in Hollywood that could fit the role. They would have to look elsewhere...MAYBE..a pro or indy wrestler with the looks and the size to pull it off (providing this person could act). Face it, Thor is a God of considerable size. His height and build are what make him believable as the God of Thunder. To fit some shrimp like Brad Pit in the role would seriously offend the fans. These people don't seem to realize that we fans of these characters are the ones that will be first in line to buy tickets. We WILL be the opening day sales. We will be the ones who will tell are friends to pass on the piece of crap or go see the awesome movie. If Stan Lee is on the set, and if he has some control - let Thor be who we expect him to be!

I'd really love for Thor in the Avengers movie to be what it was earlier on in The Ultimates, namely that overpowered dude that everybody thinks out of his blond mind for thinking himself the Son of Odin. Mark Millar did a great job of writing it in such a way you'd be unsure about whether what he said about his origins were true or not. That's probably where it would turn out nicely to have the actual Thor movie Occur in Asgard; in this sense the audience would KNOW that he's the real deal, though the other avengers would probably take him for this friendly superpowered nutcase in the upcoming Avengers flick.
On a sidenote : Affleck'd be a damn hypocrite if he returned for Daredevil...he admitted himself that wearing the costume was a source of embarrassment for him...besides it wouldn't do the movie or the character justice to have him back ; its been said before : what DD needs is a reboot. Not a fat Ben Affleck in a tight suit, no Colin Farell thinking he's in damn spoof movie. It needs a solid director, cast and script that can capture the dark, gritty essence that made Daredevil stand out over the years.

They should have Donald Blake in there to have some way of bringing Thor into man's world so when he joins the Avengers, it doesn't seem surprising to non-fanboys
zombie, Thor is a great idea, expecially since it's tying into Avengers and he's a founding member. If done right, it could be epic

Daredevil was an awful film, one of the worst of all time, but he's a good character in the comics. I really hope Marvel gets the ball rolling on rebooting that, and maybe this time actually hiring a DIRECTOR to direct it.
Zombie, for a long time people felt the same way about the X-Men movie, that they were too much of a fringe story after the 90's. Characters like this have just as much of a reason to be brought to life with reverence and imagination as Batman or Superman. You can't say that a character's value is absolutely based simply on how many people recognize the name or concept.
And you have to remember, the Thor film isn't intended as a complete standalone. The film is designed to lead into the Avengers. And "Thor" won't be a superhero movie, it will be a fantasy epic like...I don't know something akin to a LOTR movie but not in a trilogy. It could take place entirely off earth. But of course, it appears that Donald Blake shares some aspect of this character... I'm a huge comics fan, and I'm not worried for one reason: Kenneth Brannagh. The man knows his sh*t. Ever seen "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein"? Great movie, and the reason it was so good was the compelling acting and great direction by Brannagh. And his penchant for the Shakespearean dialectic is well-suited for this project. A lot of naysayers might be pleasantly surprised by how this turns out.

I agree. Daredevil is seriously underestimated in the world of comics and movies. I absolutely love the concept: blind lawyer by day, dictates that Justice is Blind, executes justice by night. And he's not geeky or unsure of himself, he's a lawyer, he has his feet planted in the world, he has a job, and so he has more adult issues to deal with. Now I know people loathe Ben Affleck, who gets a lot of flack, but he was quite suitable for the role and I sincerely hope he returns for a sequel.

also Thor's eloquent dialogue and myth fueled stories should give Marvel plenty to work with and create another amazing movie that should easily compare to Iron Man and T.I. Hulk.
Also please give poor Daredevil a break, i know i didn't enjoy his movie either but he is an amazing and brilliant character who gets so little respect in my opinion. If there are any doubters out there read some of Alan Moore's Daredevil comics. You all should know Alan Moore.

Thor is a keystone of the marvel universe, Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man are quite possibly the 3 most important heroes in the Marvel world (Reed Richards would be in that group as well but sadly his movies have made him irrelevant) anyhow Thor's movie is going to be very important in crafting the marvel world and eventually the avengers.

I don't know much about Thor, but Stan Lee has commented on the use of Shakespearean dialogue that would be spoken by Thor and the other Norse gods. And knowing that Kenneth Branagh has a profound respect and passion for Shakespeare, (having done many movie and play adaptations), I would say that he is a very wise choice for director. It will be interesting to see how he approaches the project. This isn't relevant but if anyone has seen the Director's Cut of Daredevil, I thought it was a great improvement on an already pretty good film. The storyline is certainly something to be relished in the Director's Cut.

And don't tell me Daredevil was any good. That thing was hideous. I'm just projecting....Thor is gonna be the same deal. No one cares. Thor doesn't have enough mass appeal. The big super heros I get. Bring Batman, Spider-man, Superman and the like to the big screen....hell even bring The Punisher as the character is different enough....but Thor? Come on. Tell me one thing this guy can do that other super heros we've already seen onscreen, can't do.
