Whoopi Goldberg to Guest Appear on Everybody Hates Chris
Goldberg will appear in two episodes of Everybody Hates Chris, which premieres October 1 (7:00-7:30 p.m. ET). She will play Louise, a woman from Queens who moves in next door to Chris' (Tyler James Williams) family, and whose granddaughter is the latest object of Chris' affections.
Goldberg is one of a very elite group of artists who have won the Grammy (Whoopi Goldberg, 1985), the Academy Award (Ghost, 1991), the Golden Globe (The Color Purple, 1985 and Ghost, 1991), the Emmy (as host of AMC's Beyond Tara: The Extraordinary Life of Hattie McDaniel, 2002) and a Tony (Producer of Thoroughly Modern Millie, 2002). Her nationally syndicated live radio show, Wake Up With Whoopi, will premiere this fall.
Her impressive television credits include the Emmy-nominated HBO drama In the Gloaming, directed by Christopher Reeve, and five seasons on Star Trek: The Next Generation. She executive produced the Lifetime original drama series Strong Medicine, and executive produced and appeared in the center square on Hollywood Squares from 1998-2002. She co-produced Showtime's Good Fences with co-star Danny Glover and starred in and executive produced the sitcom Whoopi. She also appeared in The Wonderful World of Disney's Rogers & Hammerstein's Cinderella, and the miniseries Alice in Wonderland. Additional credits include her own HBO specials, as well as serving as host for three telecasts of A Gala for the President at Ford's Theatre and eight Comic Relief telecasts with Billy Crystal and Robin Williams, with whom she'll reunite in November for a televised benefit for survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Goldberg has received Emmy Award nominations for hosting the 66th, 68th and 71st Academy Awards telecasts and returned to host the 2002 telecast.
