Where's Waldo? Gets Discovered at Universal
It was said that the film would be a live-action endeavor and the project was originally set up at Paramount and Nickelodeon, with John Schultz directing. The project was picked up out of turnaround by Universal.
That original project revolved around a 30-year-old Waldo who started to travel through time after accidentally turning on a time machine. It wasn't clear if that plotline will be kept or not. No production schedule was released for the film.

I can't be bothered discussing who would be good for this cause that's a rehortical question. the answer is noone. The project is DOA(dead on arrival).
Oh, This has BRENDAN FRASER written all over it! I can literally see him stopping the pitch meeting and at the point of time travel saying "stop, you had me at WALDO"!
this is something that would have world nicely as a CGI ANIMATION. But live action? i hope this bombs like Nagasaki! And the lead actor dumb enough to sign up for this mucus should also be sent back to the stone age.

...YeahButTheBookWasBetter
This will be a deep emotional movie about a mans journey to "finding himself"...and why is he 30? he looks like a college kid in the books, is this the squel to one of his books? wasnt there a cartoon? and will the whole movie be shot in a wide ariel view where its hard to see where he is on screen at all times? This has brought up alot more questions then I thought it would.

Where's Originality?
Right now, this sounds ridiculous. Resorting to an internet website, a video game, a board game, and now a f*cking picture book for film adaptation is just pathetic.
Keep Waldo and his striped shirt where it belongs: hidden in the pages of an eight-year-old's book.

Steve Carrell seems like too much of a vocal/physical comedian for this. The Waldo books, despite being books, still made me always think that Waldo, having that brisk expression on his face in every "world" would be the type of guy that would garner laughs for his sheer obliviousness to the situations around him. idk, Steve could probly pull it off, but I'm picturing Rowan Atkinson more so for his roles as Mr. Bean in the old B&W show, and the recent Mr. Bean films, despite them not being all that good.
