What's the status with Scream 4 at the moment? Are we going to see you direct it?
"Bob Weinstein (The Weinstein Company co-chairman) has talked to me, he's interested in me directing it. I had a brief conversation with Kevin [Williamson], I know that Kevin is writing. What I've said to Bob is I'm not closed to it, I'm not open to it, I'll be perfectly happy to read a script and tell him what I think. That's where it's at and I'm not expecting a script until August. I don't know what the premise is or anything."
Do you know what form it's taking? The word 'reboot' has been used.
"I don't think it's a reboot and Kevin, when he talked to me, said, 'Remember, it's not just Scream 4, it's Scream 5 and 6.' So I guess he has a trilogy in mind."

Will this even be worth seeing if Wes Craven isn't directing? I personally can't even remember the last time Kevin Williamson wrote something worthwhile. A whole new trilogy is intriguing, but does the world really need 3 more Scream movies where some unlikely killer is revealed at the end of the movie that makes you just sigh in a fit of boredom? I'd say we're better without.

Yeah, sly, I agree the Hills Have Eyes original is way better than those pieces of sh*t. I doubt H2 will have the same success as the previous one did. The only reason the first one made good money, first of all, i didn't open up as the same time as Saw, secondly, It didn't really have no real competition that year. But this year it's going to go up against a Tarantino film on it's second week. And whether that movie is good or not it's going to make money. And it's going up against Final Destination. And for me I'll see Final Destination in theaters and if i'm really bored i'll watch H2 online.

newkill's right, even if W.C. is involved, it won't be as successful since we've seen this horror story thrice before. Plus the only reason that horror sequels do better is cuz of changing economical times change the prices of things, such as Titanic's billion dollars was achieved through more ticket sales than TDK's billion last year since ticket prices have risen since then dramatically.
and Hills Have Eyes original was good, but i heard the remake sucked, so it's not surprising that the sequel to it sucked, since most sequels to horror remakes die a miserable fiscal death, which means that i'm interested in seeing how RZ's "H2" fares in box office revenue during its first few weeks in comparison to the last one.

To do three more, you must make a new story. Away from the original, and it could be like Jaws, where all of the movies had a tie in with the Roy R.'s main guy from the original. Have David and Courtney in it, but a complete diffrent story line to make it new, but have a contection to the original.

I dont care what anyone thinks, Scream, is a great franchise and hopefully this will be great, i must admit scream 2 and 3 weren't as good but i still love them

I hope so, too. I haven't seen a Wes Craven movie since '05, with Red Eye, which was pretty decent.

Well, if Craven isn't apart of it, good movie or not, it won't be financially successful.

It the first few minutes of the first movie, they should kill off all the living old characters. That would be great.

idk i kloved the Scream Franchise 1,2 and 3 and i thought her halfbrother being behind ALL of it was awsome, again there will be a new spin on this there not going to do this with the same outline and plot, there will be a reason for the killers to go after Sudny and the rest of the group i hope this gets the greenlight soon i for one would love 2 see it

Honestly I think its going to do very well look at fast and furious when I first saw the trailer I was turned off but it turned out to be a pretty damn good forth sequel and look at terminator salvation awesome. Ok I'll admit it the third scream was a bomb but who knows the third terminator sucked same with the third fast and furious

K.W. was the brain behind the original "Scream" (1996) as well as its sequels, and went on to write the SCRIPT for "Halloween H20" (1998), neither were all that terrible. But if he's returning then it can go both ways: 1) if it drags on after the killer's revealed like it did in all the Scream movies, then that's bad; 2) if the killer isn't one of the suspects then it's also bad, as #3 was just way outta whack with the explanation by the killer. However, if he steers clear of those things, then perhaps a 3rd avenue can be explored, in that if he changes BOTH of those two points, then they'd be probably better...hopefully.
And Wes Craven not being interested as he clearly isn't, is NOT necessarily a bad thing, as John Carpenter walked out on ALL the Halloween sequels, (though most of those were terrible so that's a bad example) save for the SCRIPT of #2 which he wrote, but some were still better than most exploitation/slasher rip-off flicks from the '80s, which includes the "Friday The 13th" series.
(yeah for some reason the word SCRIPT can't be written in lower case lettering. idky.)

Now ask me do i care....Ermmmmmmmm......F*ck No.
Scream is a dead franchise, lay it to rest, not even Craven's direction, which got crappy after Scream 1, can save this.
I like Williamson as a screenwriter, but there is nothing new that can be brought to this deadout franchise, except a 3.D edition, i reckon Scream 4 will just blow in the box-office, which will cancel 5 & 6.
