The Weinstein Company is moving up the release of Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling-starring Blue Valentine two days to Wednesday, December 29, reports deadline, to get a two-day head start on the New Year's holiday weekend. Blue Valentine will open on one screen in New York and Los Angeles, with another theater added in New York on December 31, before expanding into 10 markets on January 7.

Blue Valentine tells the story of David and Cindy, a couple who have been together for several years but who are at an impasse in their relationship.

The MPAA recently issued the film an NC-17 rating, and then rescinded on appeal which has heightened awareness of the Derek Cianfrance-directed relationship drama.

Blue Valentine was released December 29th, 2010 and stars Mike Vogel, Ryan Gosling, Michelle Williams, Ben Shenkman, John Doman, Reila Aphrodite, Maryann Plunkett, Faith Wladyka. The film is directed by Derek Cianfrance.
