Share in the inspiration of this amazing story based on true events from director McG (Charlie's Angels) this September 18, 2007 from Warner Home Video. We Are Marshall tells the inspiring story of how a small town in West Virgina coped with a devastating loss and restored their community after one of the worst disasters in the history of American sports. The exceptional cast includes Matthew McConaughey (Failure to Launch), Matthew Fox (TV's Lost), Ian McShane (Golden Globe Award winner, Deadwood), Anthony Mackie (Million Dollar Baby), Kate Mara (Brokeback Mountain), and David Strathairn (Academy Award nominee, Good Night, and Good Luck). We Are Marshall celebrates the strength and generosity of the human spirit.
We Are Marshall is a compelling story that needed to be told. Director McG reflected, "I've always been attracted to dramatic stories and this is one of the most compelling I've ever come across. So much of what actually happened is so unbelievable that if it wasn't based on a true story you would assume it was pure Hollywood hyperbole."
We Are Marshall will be available on standard format for $28.98 SRP in both widescreen and full frame formats. The HD combo will be available at $39.99 SRP and the Blu-ray version will be available at $34.99 SRP.
Synopsis:
They faced the worst and found their best. An inspiring true story! Football is a game that knocks you down, and then expects you to get back up. Life hit the West Virginia town of Huntington and its Marshall University even harder. When it did, Jack Lengyel came by to help pull them onto their feet by taking the job no one wanted: rebuilding the Marshall Football program only months after a plane crash wiped out Marshall's beloved Thundering Herd.
Matthew McConaughey portrays Lengyel, the energetic, compassionate coach of inexperienced players whose chances of victory are slim and none. They'll go with the slim. And as they do, their true-life story of heart, healing, and football will thrill and inspire you. It's game day. Time to play until the whistle blows.
