WB Remaking Stephen King's It

Stephen King's It
Stephen King's It
One of Stephen King's classic creations is finally heading to the silver screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. will be bringing the Stephen King novel It to the big screen.

The studio has hired Dave Kajganich (The Invasion, Pet Sematary new remake) to write the script based off King's novel. The novel was previously adapted for a 1990 mini-series, Stephen King's It. The story follows a group of miscreants called The Losers Club who come into contact with a creature called It, who takes form in a clown called Pennywise. Years later, as adults, the group are brought together when the creature returns, even though they can't remember the original incident.

No production schedule was given for the new film, but it was said that the remake would be set in the present day.

Anyone who loved the "classic" version should sit down and watch it again. Undoubtedly, it was a marvel in its time, but let's be honest-&#160all the older Stephen King movies could use a better cast (the characters are rather flat and unconvincing), and they tend to drag the plot out and beat it to death. Progress in filmography gives this GREAT potential-&#160let's just hope they stay true to the plot, and not try to half-ass it by catering to the common audiences who could care less about artistic value and just want to see flashy blood explosions.

Haven't read any of the comments, so sorry if i'm restating what's already been stated, but I'm sort of 50/50 on this. Half of me really enjoyed the original and doesn't see the need for a "reboot;" the other half would like to see what someone else can do with the project in hopes of a better finished product. And by that I mean, not letting it fall completely to smithereens in the last hour. The giant spider, ya know?

I do agree with most of you.I've read this book and it scared the sh** outta me.So much so that when I did see the movie.I,like Remy, did not go anywhere near any type of drain at all.It was and still is the only book and movie that has managed to scare me.

This scared the hell out of me when I was a kid and I tired reading the book, it pushed me into a corner so much that I will not watch the older version or the newer ever again. It scared me for life, plus I hate clowns, I won't watch a film with clowns in any film.
Still can't read the book nor watch the film, but I did enjoy Tim's performance at the time. He is the It, remaking it is a bad idea and I know I will not even watch it.

Vampire is right about it being a good thing. I read the book in (3 tomes?) a loooong time ago and I also enjoyed every bit of it. I havent seen the movie though, but heard it was far from great and didn't really do justice to the book...If they can remake it and allow this generation to discover such an awesome and terrifying stories through a good adaptation, i'll be al for it. Oh and...IT is more than a killer clown (The one on the picture is ridiculous btw...he should look something closer like joker in TDK imo....thats's just an avatar SPOILER AHEAD....think of the real IT as a bigger, meaner , sicker version of that huge spider in LOTR.

Also, while hollywood has run out of ideas, they will never run out of movies to remake lol. Soon they will remake the remakesespecially if they sucked. I could insert a list here but i'm fairly new here

This movie is the exact reason that to this day, i don't go to haunted houses or to the circus. It's just one of those films that f*cked your life up if you saw it as a kid. I'd enjoy a remake/reboot but i'm sure it won't be any scarier than "killer clowns from outer space."

I can respect certain aspects of the original for example The Losers Club childhood plotline was done pretty well and Tim Curry owned the role of Pennywise but other than that i was heavily let down the book is legions better i hope this remake does it justice. Books are differant guys this isn't just another horror remake man books are all about perspective that's why multiple adaptations are made from them for examples being Lord Of The Rings, Lord Of The Flies, Great Expectations, Anything by Shakespeare, Frankenstein, Dracula. This is no differant

You guys... This is a GOOD THING! The last "IT" movie was terrible, and it seems the only one who sees sense, and wants a better movie version of the book is Kyle Hannah. Honestly, read the book, and you'll know what TRUE terror is supposed to be like. That's the only book that's ever caused FEAR in me as I read it. The movie, while instilling fear, was only because I hate clowns... It destroyed what Stephen King was aiming at with his story!

    ARE YOU FREAKIN KIDDING ME

When will Hollywood get the poin that remaking every movie in history is NOT cool? I mean this ia another HORROR remake but what about when all the Horror films have been remade? What then? Answer: They will continue to remake other genres. Hollywood has lost it.

The original movie was a F*CKING ABORTION compared to the book why maybe cause it was direct to dvd sh*t with a condensed watered down simplistic take on a complex, gritty, and disturbing novel. The mini series was great but hopefully they can make this right i'll be happy even if it's only 1/4 better then the first that's how much i hate the original. Vamp is right the old version ripped King's book to pieces.

  29. Vamp

Ummm... Yeah there is. It completely butchered Stephen King's book! I mean, if you look at the movie without having read the book, it's alright (I own it, in fact), but saying there is nothing wrong with the original, is vastly overstating the movie's worth. It was good, but it took so much away from what King intended. I'm actually going to be rereading "IT" soon, so I can be more specific. It's been a few years since I last read it.

Hollywoods usless and I know that for a fact after watching Dragonball Evolution Friday night what crap that was. Yatterman was vastly better, and don't remake IT! There's nothing wrong with the original!
