Opening in theaters November 21st, the film is based on the true story of musical prodigy Nathaniel Ayers (Foxx), who developed schizophrenia in his second year at Juilliard and ended up homeless on the streets of downtown L.A. where he performs the violin and cello. The drama is based on the relationship the musician developed with Steve Lopez (Downey Jr.), a Los Angeles Times reporter whose column and book informed the script.
The Soloist was released April 24th, 2009 and stars Jamie Foxx, Robert Downey Jr., Catherine Keener, Tom Hollander, Lisa Gay Hamilton, Nelsan Ellis, Rachael Harris, Stephen Root. The film is directed by Joe Wright.
