this movie has horrible special effects and the guys who made the matrix trilogy were crazy for putting everything that was in the cartoon into this film. They should have left certain things out.

    According to "FIRSTSHOWING.NET":
The first and most important - Speed Racer is going to be rated G! Silver said that The Wachowski's really wanted to make a Frank Capra-like family film out of Speed Racer that would certainly be rated G.
Also Hirsch calls Speed Racer "Blade Runner meets Andy Warhol meets pop art.
    Now that is strange!

It's interesting how they were able to blend live-action with an anime-esque style. I will admit, John Goodman's appearance caught me off guard.

I saw this last night (12/06/07) on "Entertainment Tonight", & you know the film doesn't look that bad, it actually looks cool & very differnt! This could turnt out to big bust, or could wind up being a hit??
Like "wizdome" says: I never watched the cartoon so I have no idea if this is faithful to it or not?? But it does look like The Wachowski Brothers are trying to keep it faithful to a Saturday morning cartoon, the same way Wareen Beatty kept "Dick Tracy" to the comic book feel! ("Dick Tracy" has a distinctive look due to its use of only six colors; red, blue, yellow, green, orange and purple, plus black and white)
I hear "Cult" film in the making for "Speed Racer"!

Never watched the cartoon so i have no idea if this is faithful to it or not, anyway it looks like it has been shot in the style of an afternnoon kids program...sort of like the power rangers.

WOW! This movie is going to suck complete ass. I never was a fan of the cartoon and I was never intending to even see this movie. But after seeing this trailer, who in there right mind would pay to see this. I would not even give it 1 second of of my time if it were on regular tv. I can't wait to watch this film fail miserably at the box office.
