@pjwolsker That's generally the problem with the Oscars in general, is it's too safely middle-brow. The Academy considers itself too prestigious to cater to mainstream audiences, yet it tries to be relevant so it alienates hardcore film snobs too.

@shuabert i agree with you a 100%. the Academy snubbed ALOT of people and movies this year.. that was the disappointment that i was referring too. for example, instead of Jonah Hill being nominated, Albert Brooks wouldve been a great choice instead.

@narrator Yep. Instead, I watched The Walking Dead and Friday's episode of Spartacus, and called it a night. Didn't. Miss. A. Damn. Thing.

@gina39 Respect? Viola was nominated! She deserved the Oscar over Meryl. Heck, all the other nominees were better choices for the Oscar.

@shuabert I totally forgot about who they missed in the In Memoriam segment. They always miss a few people. Anyone else they missed?

I was really disappointed they left Frances Bean out of the memorial slideshow.

@pjwolsker I disagree. This was a fantastic year for movies. Many of them just didn't get any recognition from the Oscars: Take Shelter, Martha Marcy May Marlene, Shame, Drive, Melancholia, Project Nim, etc.

I predicted 16/24 correctly. To be fair, i kind of cheated (oxymoron). I guessed what would win 2 seconds before the winners were announced and a few times I didn't even pay attention to the nominees. So... I'd say I really predicted about 8 right. Probably less.

i think this year was pretty weak for movies.. it was nothing compared to stuff like Inception, Kings Speech, Black Swan, and Avatar. i think Moneyball and Jonah Hill getting nominated is the biggest evidence of that

Amazing Show, Kind of a confusing and odd year for the academy-awards and its nominations, but the winners, aside from best actress and best visual effects, really didnt surprise me.......

Honestly, I think it was a really solid show overall. Felt a little rushed, but it really didn't drag like most shows do. Lots of great presenters.
