Watch Sucker Punch First Six Minutes

Sucker Punch opened at number two on the box office charts this past weekend, earning $19 million. Directed by Zack Snyder, fantasy adventures of this sort usually experience a huge drop off in attendance the second weekend. So, Warner Bros. is offering a look at the first six minutes from the movie to help entice those who may have been apprehensive about it last friday, or those who decided Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules would offer a better bang for the buck. Check out the opening moments of Sucker Punch in the clip below.

Sucker Punch was released March 25th, 2011 and stars Emily Browning, Abbie Cornish, Jena Malone, Vanessa Hudgens, Jamie Chung, Carla Gugino, Oscar Isaac, Jon Hamm. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

@highcaliberinc, I found the argument worthwhile. Whether or not you were being sarcastic, I don't know, but oh well.

@Abhijit-Kundu, the cinematography was busy, I'll definitely say that. As someone who has slight experience in the field, I felt like Snyder's Watchmen adaption, as well as his 300, were better shot films than this. Whether that was due to the depressingly crafted "plot", or the crucial and dim lighting, I don't know. It was well shot, just not fantastically shot, which makes it not worth the money in my eyes. If you enjoyed it, that's cool. At least you're praising it's strong points, and not it's faults.

@ the narrator - i dont think you really know every reason for everyone liking or not liking anyything. I like the movie, i loved it infact - its a visual masterpiece there are some real lessons of cinematography in there and it kept me engaged- these aren't unrealistic reasons. you didnt like it I'm ok with that

Of course there's no solid right or wrong answer in regards to whether the film was good or not. Boys will be boys after all, and we all know how visually pleasing the film was. But it had a poor execution of what could have been a great idea, and those who liked it, happen to like it for rather unspecified, and unrealistic reasons, as most simply attempt to seem like something more than a little kid relishing in illicit material. 'Till someone gives me a lavishly detailed and sane reason as to why the film is worth any praise, I'll refuse to accept the weak reasonings posted on this thread, and others, that the film was worth my money. Forget the critics, if need be. I spent my hard earned money to see this pic (unlike critics), and all it delivered was something I could get by watching dry porn, and going to the gun range, with a little bit of fantasy doodling in-between.

As for the action, ha. The breakaway, alternate world scenes were just for the audiences entertainment, as they hardly mirrored what the characters were attempting to do in the real world. Instead they took what they were after, put it in an loosely related setting (i.e. fire for medieval fantasy world with dragon), and let the convenient action rip. Now, I don't know about some folk, but I'm pretty sure impressive film making comes from systematic cause and effect. There was no legitimate cause for the near jizz-worthy action displayed on screen, and because of that, I felt the entire film (a third of which took place in the dream-like world) felt as unnecessary as the fantasy sequences that the girls engaged in. The excuse that it shows the audience what Baby Doll's going through mentally, and how she plays it up into a creative other world with higher stakes can hardly be called a worth-while reason for nearly forty minutes of humorless, dialouge broken, questionable action. That's just the problems with the fight scenes. Don't get me started on the other two-thirds of the film.

It wasn't terrible, no. But it wasn't justifiable when it was advertised as something we wouldn't be prepared for, ergo the title. The only thing I wasn't prepared for, was a lazy film, featuring a talented array of people (technically speaking). Much like Baby Doll's plan, the film had a kick ass crew, and the right elements to be successful. However, due to certain circ*mstances, the overall team project ended up being dead in the water, save for a small victory, in the form of near-complete aesthetic pleasure. Hell, this film could serve as a parable on the how to's and how not to's of film.

I liked it. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer if so many people are split on it.

I also saw Lincoln Lawyer the same day, and I guess i could say that was a more tangible film. If that makes sense.

I almost want to see Source Code as much or more than I wanted to see Sucker Punch. Duncan Jones is a good young director.

@mattbierwagen I know how confusing the story may be, but I did get it. This is the best I can do: Madam Vera Gorski is like a director telling actors to feel the scene, which is exaggerating. She tells Babydoll to switch to her own paradise and let go of yourself to dance good. It's like telling people to be the ball or be the something and they go to their own fantasy world. Everything in Babydoll's mind is her emotions on how hard she's fighting to escape. The story might not be to hot, because it's basically a small escape story when you don't think about the mind thing. Wait! Meditating, that's another example. I was trying to figure it out. So, that's the best I can explain, when she's dancing, she's meditating, which is the best word I could think of.

@masta-chiefed no im saying that most of this film was ridiculous. what wasn't rediculous was completely flawed, and what wasn't flawed didn't make sense.

I saw this in IMAX and was totally blown away by the sheer creative execution within the battle scenes. I appreciate the ballsy storyline, but Idk if I went into the film looking for a dramatic aesthetic to please me anyway.

At this point, people trying to downplay the effectiveness of the action scenes are late to the party. We get the critics didn't like it. Fine. I thought it was great.
