shyamalan is a genius! his complex characters and vivid imagination are exactly what we need. after all the remakes and adaptations, its nice to have something original; and shyamalan never disappoints...thats my opinion, of course. feel free to poke and prowl, but in my book he is tops - the definition of artistry

I totally agree with K-man. M. Night is totally underrated. this trailer makes you want to know more. Lady in the Water did suck but every great director is going to have a down film. His twists are great and he will give CCI the exact amount of dosage to work to his effect

His movies are great, cgi or not. I like his movies for more than just the fact that cgi isnt a major part of his films. The stories are great, the twist endings are insane, and they are very character driven which I like.

First off I think this movie looks great. M. Night Shyamalan is one of the most underrated directors out there. ALL of this movies are original and only one has been sh*tty (Lady in the Water). The Village was well made but the ending, in my opinion, was extremely disappointing. I wanted it to be a "monster" movie so badly like it was advertised, but given M. Night's history I wasnt surprised when it turned out otherwise. Unbreakable is amazing, as is Signs and Sixth Sense. There is always a hidden message or surprise stuck in the plot which makes his films interesting and unique. The only thing is that he has developed the reputation for always having these surprises which I feel is holding him and his stories back at times (always trying to shock us.) Again the Village is a prime example of that. But The Happening looks amazing and I cant wait for it to be released.
I dont think CGI is ruining movies at all. If a director is smart and uses the effects wisely and uses practical effects where they belong then you have yourself a perfect combinator of elements. The Lord of the Rings is a perfect example. Its all about not becoming lazy as a director, plain and simple. However, the thing is that directors are pushing the envelope higher and higher of what can be achieved and seen on screen, and when you are pushing that high its inevitable that CG will be involved. I guess what I am trying to say is...... get used to it.

I totally agree with what hyperion25 says about CGI in movies. More filmmakers are becoming like George Lucas and Robert Zemeckis, by which I mean that now that they have the means and technology to do literally whatever they want on film, they do it, and it's nowhere near as good as they were back in the day when they were limited with what they could do and focused more on story and characters.

Looks pretty interesting. Shyamalan is very talented but usually makes movies about only a few or small group of people going through an extraordinary event, but this one looks more like a larger, more epic production than he's ever done before so it'll be interesting to see how it goes.

Andrew Ryan I completely agree with you in that everyone has a little bit of an ego and that is not necessarily a bad thing if it is justified. Take Rocky for example, Stallone wrote Rocky to be a hero and a winner, but it had meaning. I did not see any meaning in Lady in the Water, maybe I missed it. It came off to me as self glorification, which really pisses me off because I know M Night is a great writer and he could have made such a better movie if he wasn't too busy tooting his own horn. As for CGI, there are plenty of great movies with CGI in them, LOTR are some of my favorite movies. It seems to me that CGI is the focus of movies these days while plot and character development take the back seat. Back in the early days of CGI it was used as it should; to create things that cannot be filmed in reality. Now we have a bunch of unnecessary sh*t like Stealth and I think that the idea of having to have CGI in every big movie is ruining movies. Lets face it, movies chocked full of CGI these days don't hold a candle to movies like Terminator 2.

I've never seen Lady in the Water, but if he is a little egotistical, let him have a big ego. I'm very egotistical. I wanna rule the friggin' world! I hate the way people are today, and if M. Night thinks he can get his point across with his movies, so what. Everybody has an ego, hyperion25, some are just bigger than others. And if ya think about, most of his movies have some kind of message. Take the Village for instance. The village they live is really set in the modern world, but the leaders keep it a secret because they believe money and greed is ruining the outside world. And CGI isn't ruining movies, as long as it's done well.

No, Yahzee..really doesn't have anything to do with the presence of any CGI. I thought Lady in the Water was pretty terrible. If I remember correctly M. Night's character in the movie is some great misunderstood writer whose writings will one day change the world, sounds a little egotistical to me. I respect that you enjoyed the movie, but I can assure you that people don't like his movies for more reasons that there isn't any CGI. CGI is what is ruining movies these days.

Wait a moment. Lady in the Water was such a beautiful movie! I can´t believe how much people hates it. You sure have preferred more CGI. And I guess that´s the reason why, with the exception of The Sixth Sense don´t like M. Night´s movies. Well, I love all of his films, they are more about characters in the middle of supernatural things than the other way around, like the vast majority of the films out there.
I´m totally up for this too!

I wonder what the twist ending will be this time? Maybe it's all a dream and it's not really HAPPENING! heh, heh, heh
But seriously, it looks cool. Mark Wahlberg's great. And the Village wasn't that bad, it actually made sense. I like the fact that M. Night has twist endings. It makes the movies more interesting.

This looks pretty good, but then again, M Night has alwas put out kick ass trailers. Then when it comes to the actually movie, it comes down to a disapointtement. I love Wahlberg and I loved the Sixth Sense so I'm still gonna give this movie a try for sure even it's good or not...

Looks like a much darker subject matter than we've seen from him. I'd be interested in seeing what comes of this.
