Tomb Raider
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is expected to revamp the character and her mission and bear little resemblance to the original pictures that starred Angelina Jolie: Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life. The new project will reimagine the origins of the character, her love interest and the main villain.
As an open-writing assignment, the project is still in its nascent stages. An actress who could play the role Angelina Jolie made famous would likely come on after a writer and director are attached.
Tomb Raider, which was published in 1996 by a London-based video game company called Eidos, was a wildly popular game that involved the daredevil archaeologist Lara Croft on a series of global missions. Several spinoff games have been published since, with a 10th-anniversary edition of the game released in 2006.
No production date has been set.

Megan's NOT doing it. They updated the last article, and her rep said she had absolutely nothing to do with the series.

And the best part, she's British and can do REAL gymnastics! Common. I think she's perfect. Check out her website and look at the interviews yourself :)

They could have casted either Rachel Weisz or Monica Bellucci when they first started the series, as one is British and the other now lives in Britain, but they may be too old to replace the role now.
Fox is really the only one who's face fits, but she's so scrawny. Alison Carroll (her first film coming out this year, Doghouse) has the body for it, but her face is too cute, but, with make-up, they can make her look more serious. I personally don't want Jolie back. Everything about her didn't match the character to me. Oh well. Alison Carroll is my best vote, but I'll keep looking.

the tomb raider movies suck.they shouldnt waist their time making this movie.focus on somethin else.they wont get anyone that good to play the part anyway.maybe meagan fox or someone like rachel weisz.they should just bring jolie back.

I've seen models who look the part better than any of the below mentioned. Too bad they're not actors as well. How do you cast a real person who matches the picture above, the most perfectly rendered female game character of all time? That's a real casting challenge. Haven't a clue who I would suggest to take the part yet.

LOL this sh*t is gonna be sooooo rushed that its gonna be sooooo sh*t.
Eidos are going bankrupt, hence forth why this movie will move quick, so briefly it's like on a scale of 70% of sucking.
Foxx will probably get the role cause of eye candy.
The story will be weaked due to being rushed.
Love Interest...where the f*ck that'd come from.
I say for these producers and writers and of course directors, play the games, read the comics, take some notes, write the script, redraft it a couple of times...And make something cool.
Don't rush it, it has potential.
I with the people that are dibbing Rhonda Mitra & Emily Blunt (never fought of her either).

What they were missing in BOTH movies (IMO) is the spirit of the games, which they could never really grasp. They basically assumed that Lara is a female James Bond or Ethan Hunt, with all the corresponding action, but I really see her more like a female Indiana Jones... There needs to be a *lot* more connections with ancient civilizations, ruins, misteries, etc.

The Cradle of Life was wack. I felt like they we're missing something in that movie. The first one was great. If you notice, everyone starting fresh with these films. I wouldn't be surprise if the next Tomb Raider becomes my favortie.

"Revamping?" What the hell? I thought the last two movies were good! Oh well. It could make it better. But yeah, find someone else to play Lara, and not Jolie. She was alright, but she didn't QUITE fit the bill.
And I agree with clockworkcookie. Just leave the love crap out, please. Seriously, it doesn't need it! Lara Croft is too much of a badass to settle down, anyway! LOL Just because she's hot doesn't mean she HAS TO get into a relationship. It's a cliche! LOL

Emily Blunt would be good, but I'd like to see Rhona Mitra in the role. As was mentioned in the article about casting Megan Fox for the role (HORRID choice, in my opinion), she was one of the original models that they based the looks of Laura Croft off of.

"The new project will reimagine the origins of the character, her love interest and the main villain."
Last I looked Lara Croft never had a love interest (according to the games, obviously), unless they mean Kurtis Trent and I think including an Angel of Darkness character in the movie would cause a riot among the game fans. XD But seriously, why do they feel the need to have Lara involved in a romantic relationship? Why can't we drop that cliche for a change?
Anyways, I seriously hope they base the movie on the Atlantis storyline. And it would be super cool to see Tilda Swinton play Natla.

The biggest problem with Rhona Mitra, (and it isn't a bad thing, because she is good), is that she is in almost everything with action nowadays.
If it's an action piece throw in Rhona Mitra, Milla Jovovich, or Angelina Jolie...
I think it is time for another young lady to step to the forefront, and do something more exciting than "girly" stuff all of the time.

It has to be someone with a British back ground and accent. This role can't handle anyone that's from the USA. There are plenty o good looking British actors that have more talent, at least we don't blow up everything.

who cares who croft is... move away from the cheese and produce a script and story with substance to it. no female/lingerie model version of The Mummy or Indiana Jones. the cheesy villan cliche junk the other films produced was a joke. angelina did pretty good with what she had available to her... this whole approach needs to be reworked.
