Warner Brother's President Alan Horn Discusses Superman, Green Lantern and the Next Batman!

With all of the various superhero film properties coming out of DC Comics and Warner Brothers, it makes sense that rumors about the next Batman and Superman movies, and the upcoming Green Lantern film have gone out of control. Well, Alan Horn, President of Warner Brothers, recently had a few questions about those films proposed to him by the folks at Collider, and here's what he had to say.

On the subject of a sequel to The Dark Knight, Horn said "We've been talking to Chris Nolan and what we have to do is get him in the right place and have him tell us what he thinks the notion might be for a great story, but Chris did a great job and we'd love to have him come back and do another one." Horn went on to clarify "The story is everything and we are very respectful of Chris. We have a wonderful relationship with him and we are going to be respectful of his timing and we want to get it right. Also, I think the fans expect that - they want us to make a terrific movie - we have to give them another great movie."

When asked about a possible sequel to Bryan Singer's Superman Returns, Horn was a bit more ambiguous, saying that we might see another Superman movie "Probably in the next couple of years." He did, however, add "We're very anxious to bring Superman back also."

Asked about the status of Green Lantern, which has been getting a lot of attention due to the script being worked on by Mark Guggenheim, Horn said "Also on the board. On the runway. Hasn't taken off yet, but we're close." Horn further said, when asked what the next superhero film from Warner Brothers would be, "I think Green Lantern is probably the best guess but I can't promise it at this moment."

Finally, asked about the long-rumored, and long-suffering Justice League: Mortal project, Horn only responded with "Not yet."

Green Lantern was released June 17th, 2011 and stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Temuera Morrison, Jenna Craig, Jon Tenney, Mike Doyle. The film is directed by Martin Campbell.

Wonder Woman!! Horn, you geek. Did you forget about your 3rd most major property, only preceeded by Supes and Bats?

To Indy: Watchmen was originally published as a 12-issue series, so...no, not the best

Civil War is kinda too big for this media....even making an Avengers movie is pushing it because they have to set multiple characters up beforehand. Otherwise you get X-Men 3..

NO, it is the very definition of UNreasonable. You have read comics, and since you are here I'm assuming (though this may be giving you too much credit) you know something about how movies are made, so for two minutes, set aside your out of control fanboy daydreams and consider the logistics of such an undertaking. It would take at least 10 films to set up enough of the other characters to make something even remotely recognizable as "Civil War".

At best, you'll see the registration act come up as a concept. At worst, they'll try (and fail) to make it work amongst The Avengers and few (if any) other heroes.

dude, i have read comics all my life and i know it is a long shot but i think its a reasonable dream to see Civil War come to the screen. Also i am WELL aware of the fact of the scope the civil war, and i understand that it involves a lot more, but i also believe it could be set up correctly and done well. Im not saying it needs to be done like right now, however i do think that with the way MArvel is going, and if the Avenger movie turns out as good as they hope there will be a chance of creating a Civil War movie, it would ake a few years to get all the proper pieces into place but i can see it happening. It is probably my faovrite comic book storyline and as i said its just a dream.

NOT Matthew Fox for Hal Jordan. He's really not that great of an actor, I don't know why people are always going nuts about him. It's the same thing with Karl Urban...

If he wasn't already so entrenched in Deadpool, I'd say Ryan Reynolds is a good choice for Hal Jordan (albeit with a much different attitude than he usually carries in ALL of his characters)
Matt Damon is getting a little too old, but if they act fast he could do it.

I'm still really hesitant to think of Ryan Gosling as Hal Jordan, but the more I watch his work, the more I feel he's strong enough to pull it off.

First of all INDY, you seem to be under the impression that Civil War was mainly an Avengers story. While its two focal characters were Avengers, the entire universe was integral in that story. Civil War would never happen theatrically. Too many of the necessary characters have already been established in far too isolated stories. At best, you could work Spider-Man into it, but also, think of the scope of Civil War. To make it a significant you need a certain number of heroes, but the more people you bring in, the more it threatens to turn out like X3.

I will say this, and I will stick by it: Any real fan of the comics WOULDN'T want Civil War to happen on screen any time soon.

Im hoping that the end of the Avengers will lead into the Civil War. This is just me dreaming of course, but picture this, after the credits we see Captain America and Thor in the Avengers Mansion discussing their recent victory over whoever they fight in the upcoming movie,as Tony Stark bursts in through a door an a panic, "there's been an explosion in Conneticut, it's bad, a school children, AVENGERS ASSEMBLE"

Yeah. Marvel isn't moving quickly, they are working at pace with a ravenous fan market, and handling it quite well from what I've seen in Iron Man and T.I. Hulk. DC is certainly working slower, which makes them behind the game.
