While we still don't have any answers about the overall campaign, Warner Bros. has seen fit to memorialize Heath Ledger on at least a few of the web sites being used to promote the film. On the films official site, TheDarkKnight.com, the bulk of the site has been taken down, and replaced with a white-background page that includes a picture of Heath Ledger as well as the following words:
We mourn the loss of a remarkable talent gone too soon... and the passing of an extraordinary man who will be greatly missed.
Meanwhile, on the chief site for the viral marketing campaign, WhySoSerious.com, a black ribbon has been left on top of the message from the Joker created out of magazine cut-outs.

So far, there have been no noticeable alterations to the other marketing sites associated with the The Dark Knight.
The Dark Knight was released July 18th, 2008 and stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Monique Gabriela Curnen. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

Roll on summer 2008, i also think that eckhart performance as two face will be awesome too. we are forgetting that this movie will give us three actors doing their best work to date and i can't wait for these characters to clash.

Summer 2008 seems so far off. I feel like I did when I was a kid a month before X-Mas. Each day felt like an eternity.

Good for WB, its very sad, Health was a great actor. Im looking forward to seeing his performace in Dark Knight, and truely sad that it was his last role. Which will probably be one of his greatest.

went way to early he did!:( At least he went out with one of the most anticapated movies of this year under his belt. He did a great job in all of his movies as well but this one will take it im sure R.I.P Heath

It is a sad occurance and the attention here in Oz hasn't ceased since the story broke. I will take pleasure in knowing that this role may very well be his swansong, and that he put in a mammoth effort for us ,the fans.
He hasn't " PHONED IN " a performance from all reports and it is a great shame that he will never see the fame /accolades that will come with this performance.
Not that Heath was ever a fan of that part of the job!
Rest In Peace Heath Ledger
Australia loved you

Thanks for the memories!

yeah i reckon it will be a tribute and the guys behind the movie are handiling it very well dealing with such a delicate subject and to close down most of the site is a tribute to heath which i think is a good way of dealing with the loss and such an amazing talent

When they say he was goin to be th focus of the marketing campaign, radimus-83, it meant that they were going to crete new material with ledger, have him to press junkets, stuff like that. The point was to show as little actual movie footage as possible to build up hype. Now they have to put an entirely new spin on it.

Their probably gonna either dedicate the film or pay respect to him in the credits or before the movie...its nice to see some film makers with a heart...not like some of the money whor*s out there

Radimus-83
yeah, i think they should still use him as their main focus. it's a good way of paying tribute to him and show how important he was to this movie!

Well, this is good. They should get the marketing right in the aftermath of Heath's death. The guys behind the movie are geniuses and will market the movie while still paying respect to Heath.
