Warner Bros. Grabs The Gunslinger

Warner Bros. has nabbed the spec script The Gunslinger from John Hlavin, with Andrew Lazar producing through his Mad Chance banner.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Gunslinger follows an ex-Texas Ranger who will stop at nothing to find and punish the men who killed his brother and rescue his nephew. The project is described as being in the vein of Man on Fire and Taken.

The Gunslinger is the first feature spec sale for Hlavin, who got his break as an assistant to show-runner Nick Thiel on NBC's LAX.

No production date has been set.

Seems like its set in the present if they're comparing it to Man on Fire and Taken. And how the hell could you not like Unforgiven zadensky? That's one of the greatest Westerns ever made.

needs to keep it more UNFORGIVEN/3:10 TO YUMA and less AMERICAN OUTLAWS!
