Warner Bros. Gets Epic with Odysseus

Warner Bros. is going back to ancient Greek times with its new project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. has won a bidding war for the hot script Odysseus by Ann Peacock.

Jonathan Liebsman is attached to direct the film, which will center on the Greek hero Odysseus, who returns from 20 years of war to find his city and family ravaged by a menacing force and single-handedly fights them off. Warner Bros. beat out Paramount in a bidding war for the script.

Producer Gianni Nunnari came up with an idea during a meeting with Liebsman, who brought the pitch to Peacock, who wrote it on spec. Nunnari and Liebsman will receive story credits on the film.

No production schedule was released at this time.

    LOL i concur....

My bad i meant Homer's The Odyssey, not Iiliad. I sometimes get the 2 mixed up.
But yeah this does sound bad from that article and yeah i love Troy as well, it was awesome, i got the 2 disc Directors cut with additional footage in the film

The Iliad was already done in Troy, unfortunately, 'cause they left all the supernatural parts off and didn't delve properly into Achilles and Patroclus relationship. But I don't think they'll be doing that again any time soon.. Sadly.

Speaking of Troy, I think it would be awesome if they get Sean Bean to play Odysseus again. I think he was perfect. I just hope this script isn't as bad as it sounds here.

I read this book as an assignment. Somewhat boring at times. As I read I visioned Gerard Butler as Odysseus. I also thought about Zack Snyder directing but then I thought about Gore Verbinski.

That is my point, lol Clockwork...But this looks like its set after he comes home, maybe a backstory.

    But i'd prefer 'The Iiliad'
