Warner Bros. Finds Death Note

Warner Bros. has picked up the Japanese manga series Death Note and plans to develop into a live-action film.

According to Variety, the studio has set screenwriters Charley and Vlas Parlapanides to adapt.

The story centers on a college student who accidentally finds a misplaced "death note," infusing him with the power to kill merely by writing anyone's name on the page while picturing the person in his mind.

The 13-volume manga is a bestseller in Japan, and the film will be drawn from the first three installments, written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata for Shueisha Inc.

No production date has been set.

heres another example of hollywood taking another loved concept an disillusioning the true spirit of it , like when they did x-men an killed 3 main characters that had short lived their potenial to still develope . Lets hope that someones designs to obtain power succeeds an they remake the movie in light of its dark concept . The passion an obsession of creating a new world

I heard about this some time ago; what a freaking disaster. The manga, animated series, and live-action films that already exist are so good, so well-made ... and damnit, SO Japanese in story and tone, any American remake is just gonig to be awful beyond belief. As Kim Novak said in the film "The Mirror Crack'd": I could eat a can of Kodak and PUKE a better movie!

DON'T MESS WITH GREATNESS; LEAVE "DEATH NOTE" ALONE!!

Every single news story is a reason for people to start posting with anger. I mean, if movie news are so bad, why do you keep watching movies? From what I read everyday, EVERYTHING is bad you people. If you can do it better, why don&#180t you do it?

I hate Americans when they pick up ideas from other countries and adapt them, they did that with the office and i think the american version is the most boring and utterly stupid program on earth and steve carrel is just an overated slapstick piece of sh*t.
This was created in japan and should stay in japan.

Oh My GAWDDDDDDDDD...They can't be serious?

This will be terrible...Do they actually believe they can do better than the Japanese Death Note film adaptation.
The Japanese version was spectacular and followed the manga perfectly.

The trailer is probably for the Japanese version, err. i think there are 3 movies.

Death Note & FMA are my fav anime's/manga's, don't see them doing better.

Damn it. America's gonna ruin this. Why can't they just come up with their own ideas instead of taking British T.V shows, and Japanese Horror movies as their own.
